The Last of Us Part 1 is a full scale remake of the beloved original title
It was theorised at the beginning of the year that we would be receiving a remake of The Last of Us sometime this year. While the rumours circulated, Naughty Dog kept quiet… Until now. It has been revealed at Summer Games Fest year that yes, the rumours were true. The Last of Us Part 1 (or remake) is coming with developer Naughty Dog having rebuilt the game from the ground up.
At Summer Games Fest they dropped a trailer showing all of the vast graphical improvements that really make the game look fantastic. Check out the trailer below:
The trailer shows a wide variety of some of the most notable moments in a game that many still consider to be one of the best games ever made. While the release of The Last of Us Part 2 was a little bit more turbulent and controversial (I personally loved the game) the release of this remake will surely be a treat for any gamers wishing to dive into a stellar experience revamped.
More details were covered further in the presentation in which director Neil Druckman explained that so many areas of the game had been revamped. He stated that “Everything is rebuild from the ground up, the same art director re-art directed the whole thing from the ground up.” He further stated that “These faces are closer to the original performance” Meaning that Naughty Dogs animators ensured that Troy Baker and Ashley Johnsons incredible performances as Joel and Ellie are actually even closer to what they did in Motion capture.
Finally it was also stated that both the AI and combat was also redone and that the game will run at a smooth 60fps the same as many other titles that also feature on the PS5 The Last of Us Part 1 releases on September 2nd 2022 at full retail price.
