Pokémon has taken on several types of media over the long course of its period. Pokémon is in its distribution throughout and is a flexible brand for every medium of entertainment, from video games to card games to animated series and much more. We least expected a cartoon animated by Pokémon based on early Looney Tunes. But perhaps this is why the Pokémon Company gave us its recent PokeToons short.
On June 4, 2020, the Pokémon Kids TV YouTube channel the PokeToons short “Chase the Beans” featuring Scraggy and Mimikyu..was launched by the Pokémon company. The four-minute short is a menagerie of slapstick visuals featuring the two aforementioned Pokémon in a style that specifically honors cartoons by legends including Chuck Jones, Friz Freleng, and Tex Avery. Which was directed by Taku Inoue and created by Yoshiyuki Koie.Though Pokemon TV is a Japanese Channel, there’s no dialogue here. So anyone can enjoy it.
Now that Pokémon released PokeToons, it’s a lovely way to look at Pokémon. Scraggy and Mimikyu by Pocket Monsters were iconic gags as far as we remember. It’s great to watch these gags from the early Looney Tunes period.
