On 28th July, Welsh Interactive’s folklore-inspired 19th-century stealth horror survival game Maid of Sker will be released on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

Maid of Sker highlights some gameplay, confirms the game’s release date, and gets a brand-new trailer. Published by Wales Interactive, the new psychological horror title has a major focus on sound-based enemies. The player has to navigate around gothic environments while trying to make as little noise as possible. During the Future Games Show, it showed its first horrifying gameplay trailer.

Maid of Sker looks to be an eerie horror game. It’s an unnerving game centered entirely around Welsh Folklore. With eager players able to pre-order a physical version of the game right now, the game will be officially available on 28th July. Those who are looking forward to grabbing a digital copy can pre-purchase the title from 21st July onwards.

A brand new trailer for Maid of Sker has been released, luckily for fans of the game’s previous showing. The trailer is highlighting its release date as well as showing off a lot more of the title’s unnerving gameplay. The trailer focuses on the impeccably designed environments that will feature in Maid of Sker including several other demonic-looking locations, sinister laboratories, dark basements, and crimson-lit exteriors.

The footage also established a number of the title’s more prevalent mechanics including light combat with weaponized sonic equipment, stealth encounters that surround remaining quiet around blind foes, and what appears to be a series of intricate puzzles.

The trailer’s ending seems to imply that there will be different forms of these towering foes as well as more powerful enemies smashing through a wall and approaching the player as they sneak through a corridor.

Maid of Sker is an interesting take on the survival horror genre that blends modern game mechanics and Welsh folklore to an astonishing degree. It’s clear horror fans have a good few months ahead of them with the title releasing in just a few weeks. Maid of Sker will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on July 28. PC players can grab it from Steam.
