Zelda Movie Cast Details Leak Ahead of Its 2027 Release

More actors have reportedly joined Nintendo's live-action Zelda movie, including the stars playing Ganondorf and Impa.

The Legend of Zelda movie is starting to feel a lot more real. For a project that has been kept surprisingly quiet, more pieces are now falling into place, and some new casting details have reportedly surfaced months before the movie reaches theaters. According to the sources, several actors have been linked to the upcoming live-action Zelda movie, giving fans a better idea of the cast Nintendo and Sony are putting together.

While some of the biggest roles are already known, other characters are still being kept secret. One of the biggest reveals involves Ganondorf. Jemaine Clement has reportedly been cast as the legendary villain and is said to have signed a multi-picture deal. That detail is particularly interesting because it could suggest that this isn't being treated as a one-and-done movie. And honestly, why would it be?

Nintendo has already shown with The Super Mario Bros. Movie that it has bigger plans for its movie franchises. If the first Zelda movie performs well, it would make sense for the studio to keep the story going with additional adventures, characters, and villains.
The movie's casting also has another surprising name attached to it.

The late Sam Neill is expected to appear in the film, although his role has not been revealed.

That is easily one of the more unexpected pieces of news surrounding the project. Neill is best known to many fans for his role as Dr. Alan Grant in Jurassic Park, and his reported appearance in Zelda raises plenty of questions about how his character will fit into the story.

There is still no clear explanation of what role he will play or exactly how his appearance was handled during production. For now, that part of the casting remains a mystery. Yvonne Strahovski has also reportedly joined the movie in an undisclosed role. Like Neill, her character has not been revealed, leaving fans with another piece of the puzzle to figure out.

Then there is Dichen Lachman, who is reportedly playing Impa. The character has appeared in many Zelda games throughout the years and is now one of the most famous supporting characters in the genre. Lachman's casting has already caught the attention of fans, with comparisons being made between the actress and different versions of Impa from the games.

Whether the movie sticks closely to the familiar design or takes the character in a completely different direction remains to be seen. The main cast is also beginning to come together, with Link and Princess Zelda already confirmed. Images from the production have previously given fans an early look at the movie, although Nintendo is still holding plenty of information close to the chest.

The timing of these casting reports is particularly interesting. 

The Zelda franchise is approaching its 40th anniversary, and Nintendo is expected to celebrate the occasion in a big way. That could mean more information about the movie, along with announcements involving games, merchandise, and possibly Nintendo Switch Online.

The movie itself is currently scheduled to arrive in April 2027, meaning there is still plenty of time for Nintendo to reveal more. For now, though, the cast is becoming one of the most interesting parts of the project.
