A few months ago, we had been given Season 8. There were so many positives you could take from it. The redesigned map was great; it was cool getting to play and eliminate enemies in brand-new and revamped places across the Kings Canyon map. The 30-30 Repeater weapon was excellent, and I managed to get so many epic kills with it.
Plus, of course, there is the legend Fuse, who most likely became a favorite for many Apex gamers. Coming through to the late Season 8, Apex Legends-related social media accounts delivered all the media hype and attention for Season 9: Legacy. This included the trailer and gameplay, and one would think that the new season would produce much more excitement than last season.
It turns out that Season 9 was pretty much the same level as Season 8 in terms of enjoyment, because what stopped it from being better was the Battle Pass. Unfortunately, the Battle Pass is terrible. I strongly recommend you refrain from purchasing the Season 9 Battle Pass. It is not worth the money.
You’re better off keeping your Apex coins for other items. Season 9: Legacy is an add-on for the free-to-play hero shooter Battle Royale multiplayer game Apex Legends, developed by Respawn and published by Electronic Arts. This was released on 4th May 2021 and is available on platforms ranging from Microsoft Windows to Android. You are also able to play on the next-gen consoles PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.
Another big reason why I couldn’t wait to play Season 9 is, of course, the legend that comes with it. Valkryie is the name; flying is her game. When I say that this legend is unbelievably overpowered, you better believe it because even some of the most bang-average Apex players would probably do very well with her; I thought Horizon was overpowered, but playing with Valkyrie for even a few matches, you will see there is no comparison.
It’s like Valkyrie has three abilities instead of the generic two that the other legends have. Her abilities are excellent and also very handy in getting out of some of the most seemingly inescapable gunfights. The VTOL Jetpack mechanic helped me out a lot in dodging enemy fire, and the rockets helped in situations such as breaking enemy shields.
The Skyward dive is highly beneficial in times such as getting you and your teammate(s) out of the storm. Valkyrie also has a recon functionality to spot enemies as I’m flying. Valkyrie is indeed one of those gaming characters that you would love to use, but will be infuriated whenever you receive the character from other gamers.
How about that Bocek Crossbow? This is also another fantastic addition to Season 9. The Bocek Crossbow is so powerful and has an unbelievable range. All you need is somewhere between 3 to 5 shots to break his shield and finish your enemies, depending on the shield level, and the scary thing is you only need a shot or 2 to kill a shield-less player.
Let’s also think about the fact that you can place attachments on it to improve the weapon’s performance. Not to mention, you are equipped with up to at least 140 arrows, so you can afford to spray without having to worry too much about losing ammo very quickly. I am in so much love with this weapon that I am willing to place it in my top 5 favorite weapons in Apex Legends. Again, this is another thing you would love to use but will feel enraged whenever you’re on the opposite end.
Now, let’s go into more detail as to what the only downfall of this season was: the Battle Pass. I wasn’t joking when I said this season’s battle pass is terrible and is not worth purchasing. The skins for the weapons are poor, the skins for the legends couldn’t be any more unattractive if they tried, and all other items in the battle pass are equally as awful. I could not identify even one item that enticed me. The items in the battle pass probably wouldn’t motivate you to grind out the game to unlock them all.
Although Season 9 Legacy is pretty much on the same level as Season 8, it is indeed enjoyable. If you haven’t already, you need to use the Valkyrie legend and the Bocek Crossbow; you will fall in love with them. However, the battle pass will most likely turn you off, as it looks as if Respawn has run out of ideas, and this drawback alone has prevented this season from surpassing Season 8. Respawn has let themselves down with that, and I would hope that they do better for season 10.
