You have your Fables, your Fallouts, your Skyrim’s, your Witchers, and so on. What do they all have in common? They are all great role-playing games that have gained millions of fans worldwide. If you are a huge RPG gamer and you are looking to try out something new, Encased is the game for you. This very fluid, very dynamic game allows you to take on a crazy adventure and tackle some of the toughest enemies while on your quest. Plus, you can improve the quality of your character by leveling them up, as well as join one of the factions, and overall explore the bizarre wasteland.

The story is indeed very fascinating, as Encased is set in an alternative 1970s in an environment where you have uncovered the dome, which is a gigantic artifact, which is located in a remote desert. This tactical role-playing game allows you to wander the post-apocalyptic world that got decimated by a tragic incident with a team of your choosing. You will embark on this journey with your team in a classic isometric viewing, and there will be a lot of trouble that awaits. This is a story that you would not pass on.

Encased is a tactical role-playing game developed by Dark Crystal Games and published by Prime Matter, Black Tower Entertainment, and Koch Media. Encased will be available on Microsoft Windows, Mac, and Linux in September 2021, and will be available on GOG, Epic Games Store, and Steam. Encased in a very flexible and fluid title filled with many features and options for players to choose from. This surely implements so much excitement, as this is the kind of thing that would attract gamers.

You are given four difficulty levels, based on your abilities in role-playing video games. If you’re just a casual RPG gamer or if you are relatively new to turn-based role-playing games, then you would probably choose either Story or Journey mode. However, if you are an experienced turn-based role-playing gamer, then Classic or Tactics mode would be the best for you. After doing so, you are then assigned a default character for you to design as you please. It comes to whether you are starting from square one or editing a figure in ways to tickle your fancy. Ideally, you should take your time developing your character, as it is a representation of yourself, and you would want it to look as good as possible.

You are then given some options for wings. You will have to choose which division your character will be in. The wings are black wings, blue wings, White wings, silver wings, and orange wings. Each wing has many choices for you to make that heavily impact the outcome of the game. Furthermore, each of the wings has its own set of bonus attributes for you to acquire. Essentially, this is another thing you may need to take some time on.

Dark Crystal games have stated that they wanted to make a “powerful and flexible role-playing game” as well as it being “recognizable by veterans of the cult classic isometric RPG of the early 2000s”. And they have evidenced this by also implementing a total of eight attributes that impact the quality of your character. Muscle, Perception, Guts, Charisma, Brains, Deftness, Fortune, and Psyche are all attributes for you to deal with.

Additionally, your character is given skills and abilities. Plus, you can uncover new abilities with skill points as you progress through the game. All of which will help you fight even the toughest enemies. Another cool thing is that you can choose which traits your character can have. This can only be decided at the beginning of the game, so make sure you choose wisely. You will have a lot in your hands with the construction and development of your character. But each process is crucial, so you should be attentive to your creation.

The functionality is fairly easy, as you are given basic controls to use. Whether it is to move around, fight, interact, and so on. Especially when you are in combat, in which you can equip weapons or select a target with a touch of numbers on your keyboard and the bottom left mouse button. You will be rewarded for all your hard work as the game progresses. You will need to gain experience by performing actions such as completing quests.

There are a few noticeable issues that have occurred, that had interfered with the experience and brought so much frustration. The biggest one was the frame rate issues, in which the performance of the overall gameplay was slower and weaker than desired. Especially when combatting enemies, which is another issue encountered, as I would die more than usual because of the lackluster animations.

We only have a couple of months to go until the release of Encased. So, we haven’t got long left to be able to get your hands on this fantastic role-playing game. Based on what we already know of what’s in store, this game will be practically non-stop action, and you can tell that Dark Crystal Games knew the assignment and have put in a lot of work into this game, so we can only expect a phenomenal experience. The aforementioned problems should be able to be addressed before the official release date. Other than those problems, the game proves to be a game worthy of purchase.
