Indie FPS Game Shotgun Farmers Is Blowing Up On Xbox One

The new first-person shooter indie game Shotgun Farmers becomes a surprise hit on Xbox One, currently out-selling major releases.

Apparently, a recent indie title has come out of nowhere to become the best-selling downloadable title on the Xbox One, already out-selling titles such as Madden NFL 21, NBA 2K21, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. And the game is a strange new FPS called Shotgun Farmers.

For some time now, Shotgun Farmers has been available via Steam Early Access, but it has only recently made its Xbox One console debut. It’s a classic-style arena shooter with Horde mode versus multiplayer. Shotgun Farmers had some server troubles at first due to excessive demand, similar to many other games that encounter sudden success, but it now seems to get it largely under control and is skyrocketing in popularity. QaziTV posted a TikTok just five hours ago on how the game was the highest-paying title on the Xbox Live Marketplace, and that at the time of this article, TikTok alone had over 800,000 views.

Other TikTok videos from Shotgun Farmer have reached 1 million views, so it’s fair to say that the notorious social media site lets the game reach a far bigger audience than it might otherwise have. Fans can expect PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch versions of Shotgun Farmers at some point (with planned cross-play support), along with new content for the game on existing platforms. Right now, Shotgun Farmers is experiencing a lot of surprise success, but if developer QaziTV can keep the game funded by daily content updates, there is no excuse why it should not achieve the same form of popularity as other games that have partially blown up thanks to social media, such as Fall Guys or Among Us.

Time will tell, but it will definitely be interesting to see what happens with the game moving forward. Shotgun Farmers is out now for PC and Xbox One, with PS4 and Switch versions also in development.
