Spider-Man will join Marvel’s Avengers roster, which Crystal Dynamics has confirmed.

Developer Crystal Dynamics affirmed that Spider-Man will join Marvel’s Avengers list for free despite not appearing in any previous unique material. The character will be released as post-launch DLC. This comes after the PS4-elite Spider-Man game delivered in 2018 and not long before the launch of Spider-Man: Miles Morales on PS5.

The team shared no particular data about how Spider-Man will play. Additionally, there are no screenshots of Spider-Man in motion, flagging that Crystal Dynamics and co-developer Eidos-Montreal are still diligently working on the playable character.

It will be the subsequent Spider-Man playable on PS5, as Miles Morales will likewise be highlighted in his own independent game this year. This won’t be a full-length game; however, it is a title comparable to Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. The studio also confirmed that the web-slinger will be exclusive to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

You’ll be left out of the fun if you’re on Xbox or PC. In an extensive PlayStation Blog post, Crystal Dynamics’ associate art director Jeff Adams delineated what we can expect when Spider-Man shows up in the game after Marvel’s Avengers launches on September 4.

Adams said Spider-Man’s “amazing gymnastic capacities will supplement the experience, permitting you to consistently progress from route to battle,” expressing he needs players to feel “elegant and light” while playing him. In addition to the smooth gameplay Spider-Man presents, Adams specified he wants players to “be able to utilize a variety of web configurations and gadgets to enhance your traversal.”

Adams also said Spider-Man will get “unique skill trees” that will include an “impressive suite of iconic abilities and attacks at your disposal, [as well as the ability to decide] which gadgets and skills you wish to upgrade.” Marvel’s Avengers will be released on September 4 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. PS5 and Xbox Series X versions are being developed.
