Quake 2 is Free To Own Right Now

With Quake 3 soon to be released thanks to a charity drive at QuakeCon, Bethesda announces that Quake 2 is free to own for a limited time.

Bethesda has declared that Quake 2 is allowed to claim on the Bethesda Launcher temporarily as a feature of its festival of QuakeCon. Intrigued players should act quickly, as the giveaway will just go on until noon ET on August 15. That gives fans just shy of 72 hours to sign in and reclaim their compensation to keep forever. As redeeming the game is easy, it’s best not to wait, though.

Quake was temporarily free on August 7, too, so it just bodes well that Quake 2 would follow. On August 17, Quake 3 will likewise open up for free, finishing the trifecta of exemplary shooters. Even though these games are unquestionably somewhat dated, their brightness radiates through today, and old and new fans the same will have an awesome time playing them.

To get the game, players simply need to log in to their Bethesda launchers. Doing so should add the title to the player’s library automatically, and fans should be prepared to do the same for Quake 3 on August 17.

As of now, there is no word about Quake 4 being free to own anytime soon, but if that happens, it will likely be a few days after Quake 3’s promotion ends. This is all part of the festivity of QuakeCon, Bethesda’s yearly show, where the developer gets the chance to discuss its up-and-coming games.

These games, in particular, were made free as a reward for a successful charity drive that took place during the event. This is Bethesda’s way of thanking fans. Quake 2 is now available for free on PC. Also, just that you should know, a new Quake entry might have been teased by Bethesda last year.
