But it’s “far from being in a dev hell”, the studio insists.

Dying Light 2 developer Techland has let it out reported that the spin-off “too soon”. The confirmation came after the engineer prodded that it had “a couple of words to impart to [fans] about the Dying Light 2 advancement measure”, promising more data would follow on Wednesday, 17th March.

In a subsequent tweet further down the chain, nonetheless, the authority Dying Light Twitter account reacted to a fan who conceded they were “stunned” and contemplated whether the game was “being developed damnation”. “[As far as I know], the definition of a dev hell requires the game to not make any development progress, while DL2 keeps moving forward,” the response says. “We announced the game too early, but it’s far from being in a dev hell.”

Dying Light fans have been worried about the continuation for quite a while, not least because Paweł Selinger, who had filled in as “narration designer” on Dying Light 2 throughout the previous two years, left Techland at the end of 2020 after more than 22 years at the organization. Dying Light 2 was reported at E3 2018 during the Xbox public interview by pretending game designer and creator Chris Avellone, who later left the undertaking following claims of sexual assault.

Afaik the definition of a dev hell requires the game to not make any development progress, while DL2 keeps moving forward, we announced the game too early but it's far from being in a dev hell 😛

During Microsoft’s E3 2019 question and answer session, Techland reported Dying Light 2 was set for release in the spring of 2020, yet in January 2020, Dying Light 2 was delayed indefinitely. In May 2020, reports arose that the proposed Dying Light 2 was in a sorry state, despite of the fact that Techland pushed back.

All the more as of late, however, a further blow came when another report shed extra light on the pained undertaking, claiming turbulent, unfocused improvement driven by a tyrannical CEO. The news came only weeks after the engineer had to deny bits of gossip that the Dying Light 2 designer had been taken over by an obscure outsider, demanding it stay a “free studio”.

There is some uplifting news, however, subtleties of an impending Collector’s Edition for Dying Light 2 have apparently been spilled, hinting the game, which at present only has an indistinct “2021” discharge window, may be coming soon as possible.
