PlayStation 5 Pro could be announced later this year according to industry insider.
There is quite a bit of mystery surrounding the elusive PlayStation 5 Pro, a console which many believe to be in the works over at Sony. Despite the console yet to be announced, a well-known industry insider has predicted that we can expect to get an announcement for the console at the end of the third quarter of 2024. This prediction came only a few weeks after supposed PS5 Pro specs leaked online. The console seems to offer a more modest mid-gen hardware upgrade when compared to the previously released PS4 Pro which came out in 2016.
It should be noted that while the PlayStation 5 Pro shares a lot of its specs with the base PS5 console, the new system will feature proprietary upscaling technology, similar to what we’ve seen in Nvidia’s DLSS. This was first reported by Jeff Grubb from Giant Bomb back in mid December 2023. According to Jeff, this new software solution will allow the console to push its hardware far beyond what the base PS5 was capable of. Many have taken to social media to share their thoughts and predictions on what might be shown off at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024, which will be taking place from 9 January to 12 January 2024.
However, while many suspect that Sony will show off the new PlayStation 5 Pro during CES, known industry insider, Tom Henderson, disagrees. Tom recently took to Twitter to say that if Sony were to show off the console at the show, he would be “surprised”, assuming that the company is still following their release plan. For those of you who don’t know, Tom Henderson previously said that he expected the gaming giant to reveal the console during the 2024 holiday season.
As of writing, there’s not much to say. All information about the PlayStation 5 Pro is incredibly scarce, most likely due to Sony trying to keep them under wraps. All that we can do is speculate, but we do know that Sony will be attending CES 2024, so while they might not show off the PS5 Pro, they might show off something just as exciting.
