Update 2 for Doom Eternal is now live on Stadia, Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Developer id Software stated that changes were made to Doom Eternal, and the lengthy patch notes show a bevy of additions. The most notable is the newly added Battle Mode map, Torrent. Now home to eternal prisoners and occupied by UAC, Torrent is a mash-covered location with various platforms and long hallways.

In other Doom Eternal news, Pete Hines Bethesda’s senior vice president of communications and global marketing admitted that Fallout 76’s poor reception affected Doom Eternal. In a podcast, Hine also said that the way the community received Fallout 76 is what led Bethesda to delay Doom Eternal. It ensured that the software had the extra time to squash any bugs that may damper the experience. Hines announced that the response to Westerlands was so much better for the extra time and Doom Eternal was so much better for the delay.

Outside of Battle Mode, other changes are made to Doom Eternal in Update 2. Like, empowered monsters will be seen more frequently throughout the campaign with update 2. But these monsters can be turned off in the Game tab within the Main Menu options. With a nice beefy lighting overhaul, Photo Mode has also been improved.

Additionally, to enhance stability Battle mode has been given some quality-of-life improvements. This includes adding keybinding support for each monster, fixing various other issues like missing audio and latency adjustments to ensure smoother matches, and more.

Id Software shared details about Castle Grayscale, Doom Eternal’s next mini-event. This event which will run until 2nd July, will let us unlock two skins. Three icons by completing in-game challenges and a nameplate. Id stated that this event was designed to be completed in a shorter amount of time to prepare players for Hack to the Future 2, Doom Eternal’s next major event.

In Doom Eternal, update 2 is now available. There’s a mini-event, a laundry list of QOL improvements a new battlemode map, and bug fixes across all platforms.
