During the Ubisoft Forward event on July 12, Watch Dogs 2 will be free on PC but players will have to be quick to grab it.

During next week’s Ubisoft Forward event, Watch Dogs 2 on PC will be free to anyone with a UPlay account but only while the show is live. Ubisoft Forward is expected to reveal next-gen games for the Xbox series X and PlayStation 5 from the developer.  The developer isn’t giving up on The Watch Dogs yet though the series has never had quite the success that Ubisoft would have liked.

Watch Dogs: Legion the upcoming sequel looks to be a much more ambitious direction for the franchise.  The team is letting players play and even recruit as any NPC in the game’s world. They are letting players do that though some may be more difficult to convince than others. It’s been a while since any news about its progress though there was even talk of a Watch Dogs movie going back to 2014.

This quietness has made it sound like anything more than a distant possibility. What Ubisoft is doing with Watch Dogs is to give away the series’ previous releases for free. Because there may be no better way to build a player base for a sequel. The original game was offered free on the Epic Games store in March now it’s Watch Dogs 2.

While the show is ongoing fans will have to log in to UPlay to claim the free copy. While they’re claiming Watch Dogs 2, players can also enter to win other rewards from Ubisoft by answering trivia questions. The cancellation of E3 2020 and other gaming shows has left developers and publishers scrambling to get the news out about their big upcoming games. Ubisoft Forward looks like it will fill the gap nicely for fans of the developer.

Players will be able to snag a free copy of the hacker action game during the broadcast of Ubisoft Forward, which runs from 12 pm PDT until 12:45 pm PDT on Sunday, July 12. They specifically say that Watch Dogs 2 will be available anytime after Trackmania and before the end of the main show. The show will also be subtitled in multiple languages and presented with American Sign Language interpretation
