Earth Defense Force 6 Announced For 2021

Publisher D3 has announced a new numbered entry for the bug-busting Earth Defense Force series. They have also officially revealed Earth Defense Force 6. The game is expected to launch in 2021. Alongside this a vocabulary-based spin-off, Earth Defense Force: World Brothers is also on its way.

No official platforms for the game have been announced yet but it’s confirmed that it will launch this holiday season. The 2021 date reminds us that Earth Defense Force 6 will be released on next-generation consoles. The game’s website doesn’t reveal much information except a suite of screenshots which include massive bugs terrorizing an urban landscape.

The landscape looks very much like an Earth Defense Force game. Where a team of humans who are often in co-op groups must flesh out to build characters and fight. With increasing absurd weapons the humans have to fight to rid the world of a bug scourge. The change in art style looks like a great fit. The game will feature characters from across the entire EDF series. The game will land on PS4 and Nintendo Switch at some point this year.

According to the game’s website, whether or not the Earth will become a square is the predicament the World Brothers is facing. Titled Earth Defense Force: Worlds Brothers a vocabulary-based Earth Defense Force spin-off game has also been revealed. But neither game has been announced for Western release. The EDF series has always featured long gaps between a Japanese release and a Western release. Spin off Earth Defense force: Iron Rain has launched simultaneously worldwide. Which is now offering some hope to the fans.

The official Japanese website for the game is live with its fine collection of voxel screenshots. Which are amazingly inconvenient stacked collage forms.
