Sony's PS5 event is rescheduled to July 11th

Sony’s upcoming PlayStation 5 event was originally scheduled for June 4th. But with the death of George Floyd and protests against racism and police brutality happening around the world, the event was postponed. Now Sony has mentioned that the event has been rescheduled to Thursday, June 11th at 4 pm ET.

Sid Shuman, A senior director for Sony Interactive’s Content Communications, recommends wearing headphones during the event. It sounds like a reference to the already announced PS5’s 3D audio capabilities. There will be some cool audio work in the show, and it will be harder to enjoy if it’s pumped through phone or laptop speakers. Sony Interactive CEO Jim Ryan announced about the event.

Shuman also wrote, “The games you’ll see on Thursday will look even better when you play them on PS5 with a 4K TV, as you’d expect”. According to a blog post, to make it easier to produce while many of the staff are working at home for the pandemic t, the presentation is pre-taped and will be broadcast at 1080p and 30 fps.

It’s still unclear whether Sony will reveal the console’s design on Thursday. In the original event blog, Ryan mentioned that Sony had much to share with fans after the week’s showcase. Sony hasn’t shared much about its plans with its players.

The controller’s share button has been renamed the create button. The dual-sense controller will have a USB-C port, adaptive triggers, and an integrated microphone. The PS5 will have a proprietary SSD with 825 GB of Storage, 5.5Gb/s of performance, and a custom eight-core AMD Zen 2 CPU.
