The Boys has ended, and I feel like I’m one of the few people who enjoyed it. The final season might not be perfect, but it does what it needs to do to wrap up the show.
The Boys (2026) aired their last episode on May 20, 2026. Almost everyone online is complaining about the last season of the show, but I have a feeling that’s more about last-season syndrome. I believe that almost every show will get bad reviews for its last season. Everyone likes to blow things out of proportion and complain online about every little detail nowadays.
I’m here to say that The Boys (2026) definitely ended on a good note. The final season of The Boys (2026) isn’t perfect, but the show isn’t perfect either. In today’s world, we are used to getting what we want and when we want it. We don’t have to wait as long for certain things anymore, and we can find online communities that support you in any decision you might make, good or bad.
So when a show tries to do something different or even just veers off the broken path, everyone freaks out online. They have a hard time digesting things that are different because they feel comfortable with what they like. All of this might be a generational thing, as I’m approaching my 30s and I find that I care less and less about what other people think of movies or TV shows, and I just watch what sounds interesting rather than what gets good reviews.
I do think that the boys definitely had a solid first season, and it might be one of the best seasons of the entire show.
But this final season of The Boys (2026) does just about everything it needed to do. I absolutely have some complaints with it, but they are definitely more nitpicks. If people want to show more like the comic, they should read the comic because it’s definitely nowhere near as good. Also, if they want it to be more like the comic, they should just read the comic instead of watching the show. The same goes for any type of book that is adapted to a film.

My main complaint is that some scenes felt too short to build up to the finale of The Boys (2026). Some of the battles felt a bit too short compared to how other battles were handled between the heroes and villains in the show. Without going into spoilers right now, that is definitely one of the bigger complaints: that it felt rushed.
I don’t think it necessarily felt rushed, but there were some points in the final season that they could’ve stayed more on topic and less on these kinds of smaller arcs of characters. A lot of people don’t like Starlight's character anymore because the actress's face looks different due to a disease she has. That’s literally the only reason people don’t like the character anymore; it's pretty crazy.
People might say they don’t like the way some characters are written anymore, but none of their actions really feel out of place. I am never shocked by a decision a character makes because they’re so well-written and so unique.
I find Butcher to be one of the most unique characters on television because he's a hero on paper, but the way he goes about doing good is evil. You could call that an antihero of sorts, but he has more good intentions in him than most antiheroes on film or TV. The way the characters are portrayed, and the way they end, are pretty incredible, in my opinion, in The Boys (2026).
Spoilers ahead for The Boys (2026). Hilariously, some people are mad about how Homelanders' deaths were handled. At the end of the show, one of the characters inherits an ability that strips superheroes of their superpowers. So you have Homelander, the show's villain, who has just been granted immortality. But if you take his abilities away, his immortality also goes away.

At the end of The Boys (2026), they managed to strip him of his superhero abilities. He is seen as a major threat to the world, as he is willing to kill anyone who stands in his way. So they can finally take away his powers. Throughout the show, we have seen Homelander's backstory and how pathetic and horrible a human he is.
Some people didn’t like the fact that he begged like a baby before he was killed. And I have a feeling they didn’t pay attention to how pathetic Homelander was throughout the show. Of course, some people feel for them because many people like to relate to these horrific characters, like the Joker.
These kinds of characters, of course, are written with some humanity in them to make them interesting, but you shouldn’t be idolizing people who are straight-up cold-blooded murderers. Homelander killed so many innocent people throughout the show and had such a disregard for human life. The death that he was given was the one he had coming.
The world of The Boys (2026) was a better place without him. Given that he had a terrible upbringing and they put him through some horrific things, he had to go. Like putting a sick dog down, he was never going to be that innocent boy again sadly.
I do feel like they could’ve had one more episode and maybe drawn out that finale stuff a little longer.
But at the same time, it feels like people would complain that it's too long by then. They don’t have any episodes in this final season that really go over an hour. A lot of shows have finales that are at least 2 1/2 hours long, like Stranger Things. When you do that, you just get so overindulgent, and it’s just information overload. Stranger Things definitely had an issue with that, as its last season featured many episodes as long as feature films.
The Boys (2026) are always good about keeping episodes just an hour or less. I think many people will enjoy this ending. Of course, some earlier seasons are better executed, but it feels like whenever a show or long series ends, people always complain about it.

I can’t find a property or series that has ended in my lifetime without people complaining about the ending. There are the rare ones, such as Breaking Bad, but people still have certain seasons of that show that they consider so much better than the finale.
The Boys is a really special show, and I’m definitely sad that it’s gone.
I’m glad that they are going to continue with some of the characters for The Boys (2026). Right now, they’re planning on doing a television show with Soldier Boy called Vought Rising. It looks like it’ll be on Amazon as well. For me, I have a feeling that Amazon really got lucky with this show, as it helped launch their streaming brand. You also can check out Gen V, another spin-off show from The Boys (2026).
Even though the show definitely pokes fun at a couple of aspects of Amazon, I’m glad it was on there and easier to access than some of the more niche streaming services. Many people already have Amazon Prime, so we were able to watch the show without paying anything extra.
The future is bright for The Boys (2026) as they have plenty of ideas and ways to do spin-offs. All the actors and actresses are really coming into their own, and I feel like they have a bright future ahead of them as well.
