Review Overview

As we are approaching Halloween, we are definitely in the mood to watch some horror, but in this case, we’d also want to play some horror. You are a person who wants to play a game that is fresh but will also give you a lot of scares and enjoyment. Then you must look no further. Right now, you will find no better game than Back 4 Blood. The last game, Left 4 Dead 2, arrived over a decade ago, which is indeed very long enough to consider that it would be the last game. So, it is great to see the same developers produce what is widely considered a sequel to the predecessor 12 years on.

If you have friends, make sure they all get this game, and do not even think about getting this game until you have at least two people getting this. This is because to get the ultimate experience out of Back 4 Blood, you will need to play with friends. Of course, you could play on your own, or with just a friend, but the most common issues are, you won’t enjoy it as much, or when you and your friend are teamed up with random players, there is usually be lack of communication between you guys, and that messes things up considerably.

Back 4 Blood has lived up to its hype. You get the luxury of choosing to play a cooperative story, competitive multiplayer, and so on, and as you are in the middle of a war against the undead, you and your friends are using your creativity in wiping and slaying them in so many epic ways. You can see many similarities to the predecessor, including gameplay, and it gives you that true horror feeling. Especially when you are playing at night.

Back 4 Blood is a survival horror, first-person shooter game, developed by Turtle Rock Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. Back 4 Blood is available on platforms ranging from Microsoft Windows to Xbox Series X and S. And the great thing is, this is available to Xbox Game Pass subscribers like me. So, you do not have to pay the full retail price. It’s practically free. The file isn’t huge, so you won’t have to worry about storage space, especially if you are an Xbox Series S owner.

The story mode is adequate. It’s not a good as you would get from similar games such as The Last of Us, but seeing as this is a kind of game you wouldn’t expect a lot of emphasis on, other good things about this game compensate for the story’s lack of quality. Plus, the length of the cut scenes combined is extremely short. The gameplay is awesome.

The gameplay is the game’s brightest spark. But as said before, you will get the very best out of this game if you play with friends. You would be able to communicate with each other and strategize on how to bypass the enemies.

As you are using a wide variety of guns, you truly get a sense of satisfaction blasting away the creatures, as well as the much tougher ones that appear from practically anywhere. And this is where you and your teammates can benefit a lot by using automatic turret guns that can make your job much easier.

One detail that some might like is the realism in the stamina, as you are using melee weapons. Meaning you need to know when to use them as your stamina decreases, affecting your character’s overall performance. Running also affects your stamina, so you’d need to time perfectly when to do so to survive and progress through the levels. You get to unlock many items for yourself and each character, which would be one of your motivations to grind out this game.

The visuals look very good on a current-generation console. I particularly like the cartoonish vibes this game gives. Ironically, although this is a kind of game that you’d expect to see a limited number of colors, especially dark ones, with this game, there are many colors, as well as bright ones, that are presented.

The audio is another area where the developer took a lot of time. You fall in love with each character as they all have their persona, and you can connect with them. As well as witnessing a lot of cheesy jokes and one-liners as you are popping away from the enemies. The background music is also something you would love to hear.

Back 4 Blood

Back 4 Blood is simply a game that possesses endless fun for you and your peers. Although, it does have a few flaws, it doesn’t take away from the very exciting gameplay that simply makes Back 4 Blood worthy of purchasing. Plus, it is free for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, so that’s even better. This is a great competitor for content such as Treyarch’s Zombies. This is a great game to kickstart your Halloween.
