Great

Dune: Part Two is a modern sci-fi epic. Expect this film to do massive numbers compared to the first.

Dune: Part Two (2024) lived up to the hype. The film had insane expectations, as Dune: Part One had such great reviews. The expectations were raised even higher when the cast was announced. Dune: Part Two (2024) includes even more a-listers than Part One. Dune: Part Two (2024) includes Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Christopher Walken, and more. These are the actors who usually lead in every film they are in. But they all played their part perfectly in this film, creating something special that will last generations to come.

Here’s hoping that Dune Three will be just as good, or however many more movies they decide to make based on the Dune book series. I would be very surprised if they didn’t make at least a Dune part three after this film, and I hope they make more and more movies.

I was such a big fan of Dune: Part One when it came out in 2021. That film set up so many great things for this film to excel at. Dune: Part One was a good appetizer for Dune: Part Two (2024). Because now we finally get to see a lot more intense action and critical plot points. The first film sets up all the bases, and the second hit the home run. The film does take a minute to get going, but when it does, it doesn’t stop until the end. But that’s not to say that the introduction isn’t bad; it’s just not as good as the rest of the film.

The first original novel is adapted into these two Dune films. Dune: Part Two (2024) is the latter half of the first Dune book. With that being said, when the film starts, it is a little slow due to this. This is the middle of the book, so it is a little slow going with setting up plot points. It eventually gets going, and it does go full-on. Since the film is well-made, it still isn’t terrible.

Dune: Part Two cast
Timothée Chalamet in Dune: Part Two (2024).

I think the biggest turning point for me was the arena fight scene. This introduced Austin Butler’s character. This was highly stylized, shot, and edited. It seems that people are already talking about it all over the Internet due to how stylized and unique it is. From then on, it seems the film doesn’t let up. Every scene from then on is phenomenal.

The only thing I can say that might be an issue for me is that both films seem to end with me wanting more. Both films seem to build a lot for the next film instead of making a concrete, tie-all-loose-ends type of film. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. It keeps me wanting more, but I feel like they will conclude the film series concretely at some point.

I think a great thing about Dune: Part Two (2024) is that even though it is a sci-fi movie, it doesn’t necessarily turn non-sci-fi viewers off. I am not the biggest sci-fi fan, but I do enjoy classics like Star Wars and Terminator. But there isn’t a ton of science-fiction mumbo-jumbo in the film where you just don’t have any clue what’s going on. There isn’t a ton of technical stuff to get hung up on. There is a whole world and universe if you want to learn about it, but it seems that that’s left more in the books, of course. Which I think many will go to the books after watching this film.

Dune: Part Two cast

You can still go into Dune: Part Two (2024) and enjoy it, regardless of whether you are a massive sci-fi fan or not. But I will say you definitely should watch the first film before watching this one. The first film is on Max right now, as the film premiered there as well. So be sure to check that one out before watching this one.

Going back to the stellar cast of Dune: Part Two (2024), every single person brought their A-game. This is so rare in these kinds of films. It is usually nearly impossible to get nearly 10 massive actors in one film to do so well. Usually, when these films happen, they turn out to be duds. But it seems that they respected the material a lot and decided to work hard to make a great piece.

Dune: Part Two (2024) has it all: great acting, great directing, great cinematography, and phenomenal music. We have Hans Zimmer back doing the music. Hans Zimmer did the first Dune film as well. I think this time he topped the score he did for Dune: Part One. This one has insanely beautiful music and insanely intense music. They had to portray more of a love story in this film, and they did a great job of showing it with the music.

We have these quiet scenes where it’s just characters in the desert, and it’s done so beautifully and elegantly with the music. Then, when we had these massive action scenes, the music came loudly, making us feel like we were right in the middle of the action. There are even scenes where music is not playing and we get a good, edge-of-your-seat feeling. I believe Dune: Part Two (2024) will get a ton of Oscar nominations, and Hans Zimmer will be one of them.

Dune: Part Two cast

Since Dune: Part Two (2024) is fairly long, going over 2 1/2 hours, I don’t think it’s important to mention a lot of plot details in the film. If you’ve watched the first film, you can probably expect what’s going to happen next. With so many twists and turns in the story, you should go into the film without really knowing anything about it. Especially if you have not watched The Dune film from the 1980s, which David Lynch directed. That film adapted the Dune book into one movie.

After this film, I think it’s safe to say Timothée Chalamet is holding his own. He had great success in Wonka and it continues with Dune: Part Two (2024). Many people think that he will be the next Leonardo DiCaprio. I think this film might even get him an Oscar nomination, or at least some of the supporting actors and actresses in this film an Oscar or Golden Globe nomination. Dune: Part One got a decent amount of Oscar and Golden Globe nominations as well.

If you’ve read this far and you’re still up in the air about going to see Dune: Part Two (2024), let me just read you the cast: Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Dave Batista, Christopher Walken, Léa Seydoux, Stellan Skarsgård, and Javier Bardem. And all of them kill it in this movie. There isn’t one lacking person in this film. That goes for the crew as well. Every single person involved in the making of this film seemed to do their best.

Dune: Part Two cast

If you love action movies, if you love sci-fi movies, or if you like any of the actors or actresses in this film, go watch it. It’s a special movie to see in theaters, and it will be one of the top-grossing films this year.

Good Stuff Great acting by everyone in the film. The music was top tier, as usual by Hans Zimmer A long film, but nearly all scenes are entertaining and important so it does not feel as long as it is. The action is incredible.
Bad Stuff Might have wanted a more final ending, but understand there is more to the story.
Summary
Dune : Part Two (2024) is a incredible space epic. It begs to be seen in theaters and is the perfect example of a well written blockbuster.
