Review Overview

Go Fight Fantastic is An odd yet fun adventure with a diverse team of characters.

Go Fight Fantastic, is an isometric co-op hack-and-slash game with an arcade aspect, it allows for 1-3 players and has the players go on an interstellar journey across incredible environments with some intense encounters as an interstellar smuggler led by their super cute space dog Captain Bowie. The game was developed by Dinomite Games and published by Kinda Brave.

Starting off Go Fight Fantastic you are given a warning of flashing and the likes of which can cause players who suffer from epileptic attacks, from there you are taken to the menu where players can choose one of three modes for the game which are, Solo, play, couch Co-op, and playing online, after making your choice you are asked to pick your team of characters.

The selection of Go Fight Fantastic characters is awesome with each playing a key role in the lineup depending on how player’s like the style of play. Starting with the first option there is Max Sparkles the healer a pink-haired hero with a cute green orb, next on the list would be Dark Matter the Strikers, the cool dual-wielding slasher of the group, next is Super Nova, the tank with a single sword and a block ability that really helps in a pinch. Lastly is Mercury the Archer, a green-haired girl with the ability to shoot and blow up her enemies.

Once you’ve decided on who will take your roster you will be taken to what would be considered the main deck of the ship which houses a Jukebox, upgrades station, game mode selection table, a shop, and the ship’s logs, with the only prompt on the left side of your screen being to select a Game Mode at the holo-Table. Once you have entered the holo-table you are given two main options of gameplay the first one being the story mode.

This section of Go Fight Fantastic‘s menu for modes displays both the character, the difficulty settings which can be adjusted to suit the players’ preferences, and the mission’s summary, the second option of gameplay is Horde Mode, which will display your high score, your personal best, and everyone who happens to be playing along with their scores this mode’s back story is Bowie’s Battle Sim, having converted the ship’s cargo-room into a battle arena simulator for his crew challenging them to survive and face off against waves of enemies.

Once the players have made their choice between waves and story, your adventures may begin, aside from being able to show off your score on the global scoreboard the story is Definitely something to explore, once your party has spoken with the captain and found out the details of the mission you are sent to bird planet, where you will meet the first NPC Grandpa Owl, a big owl with one working eye and brows so bushy they look like great antlers,

Entering in conversations between the party and the owl they get into some light-hearted conversations before getting to the matter at hand, once the conversation is over with you will be given free roam of the village which houses quite a few different species of bird natives which can be interacted with as you explore through the village.

Making your way over to Grampa Owl he wishes the team thanks and good luck with Their deliveries, just as thanks come to an end when the Dog Captain Bowie notifies the group of an incoming spacecraft. From here a cutscene commences, revealing more that the planet is in danger after this interaction.

Players will be able to enter combat, with each of their skills and attacks being displayed at the bottom of the players’ screen and changing as the player changes the character they play with, should the player be playing any of the given class options the player will have access to the Their unique abilities, such as playing the archer will allow players to leap, charge basic attacks, blood bombs, and use of a massive hammer which can knock back enemies using a directional shockwave.

in Go Fight Fantastic, each class has it’s use and unique skills a word of warning the healer is just that a healer he can do damage but is mostly centered around healing and supporting the other characters the game gameplay is really smooth and fast-paced action much like games such as Ember Knights, and other fast-paced top-down fighters in this line of play.

Besides being fast-paced and easy to grasp each character’s attacks are unique and very well fleshed out in Go Fight Fantastic, the archer uses blood weapons, and deals charged and aimed attacks, with the tank is great at holding an enemy’s attention or jumping in the way to block damage, she can also pull enemies around her which deals a lot of damage and stuns them as well, the healer can throw some much-needed healing orbs.

while dealing some damage as the healer, the basic attacks titled Nova, whipping enemies with a spirit companion by charging up damage and adding slow, aiding the party in slowing down the enemies with a slow field or placing either a buff or debuff on both enemies and allies by charging certain keys on the controller.

As powerful and as skilled as the characters are, the game also houses statue effects which can either help or hurt the player in different ways some of these effects range from being able to increase damage dealt, to be immune to Negative status effects, or Regenerating health over time, if the player is lucky thos are soke of the statues the player can obtain.

However for all the good ones in Go Fight Fantastic, there are some bad such as Reduced healing, receiving poison Damage, and spreading it to nearby allies, among other debuffs the player can receive Vulnerably is one to watch out for as it will increase damage take along with Weak which will reduce the players’ damage Dealt, ensnare is a movement debuff which stops all movements and can become trying to deal with other than that if the player plays carefully and trust in the team the enemies aren’t easy but aren’t overly difficult.

Go Fight Fantastic‘s graphics are beautifully vibrant and a really well hand-drawn experience that makes the story, cutscene, and environments a bright flashing visual display for the eyes to take its character memorable, each having their unique look and personality that pulls the story and gameplay together.

Go Fight Fantastic‘s story is fairly simple save the planet and its inhabitants but although it’s straightforward each character and NPC make it a fun adventure and their own comments, that really makes the game’s story. The empress is beautifully designed some much so there’s an achievement for starting at the design for longer than ten minutes which is a giggle-worthy moment.

Although gameplay is snappy and easy, Go Fight Fantastic does primarily feel like it was meant to be played with friends being that there is both couch play and online co-op, the game is more fun with other players, with each being able to control their own characters and not have to switch between characters, giving each player their assigned place in the group and making it easier to plan out combat strategies and combos.

Overall Go Fight Fantastic is fun fast and filled with interesting characters, environments, and battles to experience, the controls are fairly simple and the plot and characters are cute and unique the game isn’t for visually triggered players as it does house some bright and fast moving colors and flashing other than that it’s an awesome game with friends or solo, the competitive element in the games arena simulator also makes for a great change in pace.
