Gray Zone Warfare has just added a new patch that transforms the game.
Gray Zone Warfare has just entered its final version of the game. After multiple tests, this game has received yet another update, a major one, and is now available for us. Also, seeing that this is the case, it’s now best to give our take on what we think of the game, and whether or not it’s worth it. The one thing that so many gamers love in a game is realism, and that’s what MADRINGER Games, a.s. was going for when developing this brand new MMOFPS.
You should also be aware that this game is only available on PC. You get to play in an open world warfare where you’re encouraged to do whatever means necessary to tactically outclass your enemies, whether they’re human or AI. If you’re interested in yet another kind of game like this, then this game might be for you.
Maybe to sort of keep you busy until a bigger, similar game, or any other better game for that matter, arrives. As you’re uncovering the dark secrets of Lamang Island, you’re to deploy with a Private Military company, and you’re going to have to enter total survival mode when in PvEvP or PvE battles.

And these battles in Gray Zone Warfare will take place in the massive 42 km² DR of Lamang, which is influenced by the landscapes of Laos. You get to embark on a number of missions that include securing loot and other dangerous objectives. As well as engage in many gunfights against other human and AI factions, you’ll most definitely have fun while doing so. However, the map is unbelievably large, so sometimes you’d have to wait a while before engaging an enemy.
Gray Zone Warfare takes you through the aftermath of a bizarre event that occurred on a fictional Southeast Asian island. Following this, the entire island has been under an international emergency quarantine, and the United Nations has evacuated the majority of the population. You can play solo or with your friends as you dive into the jungle and mark your territory in a number of different locations.
Before you head into action, the very first thing you have to do is customise your character. You’ll need to choose your appearance (archetype, hair, and facial hair). Then you’d have to customise your apparel (shirts, gloves, trousers, and boots). However, the majority of the gear from the apparel section would need to be unlocked via ranking up.
There’s more to the customisation, much more. For a very limited time only, in the main menu, you’ll see a link that says ‘Twitch Drops Campaign’. This link contains many rewards that you can get your hands on if you were to watch and subscribe to Twitch streamers who play Gray Zone Warfare. You’ll receive gear, accessories, and so on.
After creating your character, you have to select one of three factions to join: Lamang Recovery Initiative, Mithras Security Systems, and Criminal Shied International. All of which have their biography and history. Plus, if you join Lamang Recovery Initiative, you’ll receive a signup bonus of $5000. If you’re wondering if you can change faction later on after making your final decision, you can. But you can only do that by either deleting your character or waiting until the next game reset, which happens every few months.

Gray Zone Warfare’s inventory is impressively sizeable. You get an array of weapons, ammo, gear, health items, and much more to choose from. I also appreciate that you can reload based on the number of magazines you store in your arsenal. As well as taking items, weapons, and so on from your human or AI enemy’s stash.
There is a reason I mentioned that this is the next major update of Gray Zone Warfare, as they have also added a brand-new feature called Winds of War. This feature involves more open new spawn points and more than 30 combat outposts. There’s also Vulture, a brand-new vendor that would reside in some COPs (Capture, Occupy, Protect).
It also includes an ultra-realistic weather system that adds more authenticity to the chaos. Another notable addition associated with the weather system is that each server has its weather forecast format, similar to the ones you see on the internet or in the news. You’ll know exactly what climate, weather, temperature, and degrees to expect before you select the region you wish to enter.
Moreover, this new update features several significant additions, including conflict zones, mortar strikes, a revamped task flow, enhancements to AI, low graphics settings to improve frame rates, and an improved health system that displays symptoms, a health screen, and more. Another great addition to note is that there are over 60 more locations for you to explore. MADRINGER Games, a.s., is really going out in this one.
The new patch feels like the final piece of the jigsaw, as the experience is far better than before. If you were among those who were around when the alpha tests arrived, you’d see the massive difference between them and now, and you’d be in total amazement as to how far this game has come. This is obviously their biggest update yet, and it’s definitely reaching its potential. On top of that, there are no loading screens, so you’ll just be sent into action immediately when you’re ready.

It’s not just the gameplay and content that’s improved, but also the visuals. This was one of the first things I noticed, and I loved what I saw. In fact, I was amazed, given the presentation on Gray Zone Warfare that I had seen before. Much more modernised, refined, detailed, and more photorealistic designs all round. Moreover, the brand-new weather system gives the island a much more authentic look.
Go and play Gray Zone Warfare, and when it rains, you’ll see what I mean. The improved visuals give Gray Zone Warfare a much more prominent presence and increase the game’s appeal, which could encourage some players to play the game more often, if that makes sense. Nothing more off-putting than outdated graphics, and this game no longer has that. Moreover, I like the improved colors of the island’s designs.
There is one major issue that needs to be addressed, and I hope that this is temporary and will be resolved in near future patches, which is the fact that controller support is still unavailable – sort of. Now, there is a way to somewhat use a controller, but you’d have to keybind them in the settings, and even doing this, you won’t get to use the controller as you would like to.
As of now, in general, controller support isn’t available right now, and this game is for mouse and keyboard players only. I hope they are adding controller support at all. Because I’m not a mouse-and-keyboard kind of player. I tried, but I wasn’t able to play comfortably. This is the ultimate deal breaker for controller players like myself who primarily or solely use this method of gaming.
Gray Zone Warfare’s brand new update has taken this game to the next level, and it was a much better experience with the new changes that make this game much more worthy of getting. But still not having actual controller support is a big no-no. Again, I hope that the support is coming in the near future, because this game has potential, and I don’t want myself and many other controller players to have to steer away from this game, because it has a lot of potential.
