Spider-Man Brand New Day (2026) Review

Spider-Man Brand New Day is a real fun time. But not the best Spider-Man movie ever.

I was excited to see Spider-Man Brand New Day (2026) in theaters, and it seems a lot of people were as well. The movie ended up making over $2 billion. I know that all the Spider-Man movies have done well in the box office, but I didn’t expect this one to do as good as it did. Spider-Man Brand New Day (2026) didn’t have Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield coming back, but what it did have was the punisher in it.

Seeing Jon Bernthal come back to play The Punisher again was great and seeing him interact with Spider-Man was even better. The movie also has the Hulk in it and a few surprises as well. I won’t give away too much as to what those surprises are, but that might’ve also been the reason why a lot of people went to see the movie. There was a lot of mystery around who these mysterious new characters would be that would end up in future Marvel films.

What really drew me to Spider-Man Brand New Day (2026) was the concept of it. The concept of Spider-Man losing all his friends because they forgot who he is due to Doctor Strange in the previous film doing so with a spell. The last Spider-Man film seemed to be the peak of what the new Spider-Man movies could be, where they brought back some of the older Spider-Men. But they proved that they can still make good Spider-Man movies with Tom Holland and can evolve his character in correct ways.

They really ended up developing Peter Parker a lot more than I anticipated. Of course, each of the new Spider-Man films has done that, but this one really took it a different step. This one was a lot darker than the previous Tom Holland Spider-Man films. They ended up really going in-depth on how one way Peter Parker ends up being at this point in his life.

A lot of people compare it to the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy, where you have a more edgy Spider-Man. Of course this movie doesn’t go all out with venom like that film did, but this one still has plenty of cool dark moments. I love seeing Spider-Man in these dark situations.

Seeing how he can balance the Peter Parker life and the Spider-Man life is something that I always found interesting about his character.

But this time he really didn’t have anything or any friends, so that’s what made Tom Holland's acting more nuanced in this film. He really had to be a different kind of character, not this happy-go-lucky one that we saw in the first movie.

He’s not in high school anymore, and he doesn’t really have a lot going for him outside of being Spider-Man. So in the movie he devotes a lot of time to being Spider-Man and turns and so gains some new powers from them. Where he doesn’t spend so much time as Peter Parker, he seems to spend almost all this time as Spider-Man in the film. You get to see some really cool Spider-Man action because of this. They even recreate some classic comic book covers, which I really loved.

Spider-Man Brand New Day (2026) does run a bit long, but that’s kind of standard fair for the superhero movies. I do wish that they cut out a little bit of time because it did run longer than it needed to be, in my opinion. I feel like they could’ve cut some of the stuff in the middle ofSpider-Man Brand New Day (2026), as the beginning and end are pretty solid. 

I know they had a lot of ground to cover, and each of the Spider-Man movies likes to show as much as they can to the character because, unlike other Marvel characters, TV shows like Spider-Man are pretty much limited to movies when it comes to Tom Holland’s betrayal.

Of course you have the Miles Morales animated films, which I think are great as well. Now I’d love to see him make a live-action debut, and in one of these Tom Holland movies. It could be a great opportunity to see both of them together in a film, similar to what was done in the Spider-Man 2 video game. It could also be a great passing the torch as well if Tom Holland decides to step away from being Spider-Man, even if it’s for a couple of years.

I doubt that he’s tired of it because he seems to be really involved in the making of these films. He seems to really embody the character and really well portrays it and seems to have no complaints about it. Whereas previous Spider-Man actors have gone on to do all kinds of other acting, and to be fair, they were established actors before Spider-Man. Tom Holland really just became Spider-Man, and then his career kind of took off from there.

I enjoyed his portrayal in The Odyssey and I was glad to see him doing some pretty solid acting and Spider-Man Brand New Day (2026) as well. It seems Spider-Man’s been in good hands as far as actors go.

I might be biased because I’m such a big Punisher and Jon Bernthal fan, but I really enjoyed his part in the film.

They actually gave him a pretty decent amount of screen time, probably second to Spider-Man when it comes to screen time of heroes in the movie. He's just a perfect fit for that role. I don't see anyone else who could do it better.

Speaking of that, Spider-Man Brand New Day (2026) has a lot of moving parts in it with all the characters of juggles, but I think it does a good job of doing so, but at the same time it is a lot to keep up with. I don’t know how many people would watch this movie without seeing any of the previous Spider-Man films, but it definitely would be a hard thing to do.

They make it so it is possible, but just like most of the Marvel movies, you need to have a decent amount of knowledge for the scenes to make sense and the emotional stuff to really hit. If not the scenes seem kinda overdramatic.

Someone like me who knows the comics really well could just jump in and not see all the films, but I did make a effort to rewatch all the Spider-Man films this summer before Spider-Man Brand New Day (2026) came out.

I think we are very spoiled right now with the new Spider-Man films as they understand the character a lot better than most filmmakers do. Of course I will always say the Tobey Maguire movies are the best and I will die on that hill. But these new ones are really fun and a breath of fresh air. 

The action in the film was great, and I feel like the ending sequences were probably the highlight of the movie.

I love action movies, so I don't mind. But I have a problem with as much action as this movie had, but there easily could’ve been a couple things cut out of the movie, like I said before. Some of it is just eye candy. Just action to have it. And this can be fun, but when it's as long as it is, it's sort of headache juice. With all the flashing lights and all. 

Some of the more fun parts of Spider-Man Brand New Day (2026) are seeing how Peter Parker interacts with his friends that no longer know who he is. The other films really built up his friendship with these characters, and to see him be so affected was really cool to see. Sad for him but cool to see from a character perspective.

Seeing Peter Parker just see them in a store or run into them at a party was pretty neat. I’m curious to see what they do next, as he’s trying to move on from some of them and is basically being a brand new person. The movie shows him kind of down in the dumps, and by the end, we see him more optimistic about his future. Like the title, Spider-Man Brand New Day (2026).

The future of Spider-Man is interesting. I think this movie was one to build up new superheros and villains that we will see more of in the future and then maybe have Spider-Man movies take a few years off. They don't make them every year or anything like that, but there will more than likely be a lot more Marvel movies before we see a new Spider-Man. We do have the new animiated film coming out soon so that will hold fans over. 

Marvel is seemingly moving towards the X-Men universe now. Not saying Spider-Man movies won't be made, but I think we will see more cameo's of Spider-Man for a bit. With the new Avengers film, Spider-Man might make a apperance, or even one of the older Spider-Men. I think they are planning on throwing the kitchen sink when it comes to Doomsday (the new Avengers film). So Spider-Man will more than likely be in it. 

Brand New day really seems to tie up a lot of loose ends and they'd need to have a big villain for the next film.

Spider-Man has so many great villians. I think only Batman has better villains, so they have plenty to pick from. They might try to use a different villain we haven't seen before, or one that's not really been done well. I know Venom has his own films, but I'd love to see a Tom Holland Venom like movie. They are started to lean into the more dark side of Spider-Man so I think they should continue this. I'd love to see if they can do more with that.

I'm a big fan of Daredevil, Spider-Man and him had a run in but it was rather quick. I'd love to see a movie combining those worlds. They are both in New York City so they can make it work. The current Daredevil show is still running as well, so they could tease it a little bit there.

But I am willing to bet since they already had a small run in that will more likely be it. To be fair it wasn't a Daredevil and Spider-Man run in, it was a Peter Parker and Matt Murdock run in. So they still haven't had them both in costume together yet. Punisher had his Spider-Man run in withSpider-Man Brand New Day (2026), so it would be cool to see Daredevil in a new movie. 

I think where they plan on taking Spider-Man next is really the big turning point. They have just about done all they have set out to do. All the films have made great money and this one made 2 billion. A lot of these questions will be answered in Doomsday, which comes out at the end of this year.
