Stranger Things (2025) has officially ended. The final season has received a lot of backlash online, but, as usual, it’s more overblown than it really is.
Stranger Things (2025), in my opinion, is one of the better popular shows out there and deserves much of the hype it gets. It has well-written characters, and the stories they have told over the last five seasons have been entertaining to watch. Stranger Things (2025) capitalized on some of the 80s nostalgia when it first came out all those years ago. I’ve always loved that 80s style, so it didn’t take much for me to find this show entertaining.
While I do believe season four was better than season five, it’s still not as bad as people are making it out to be. People are acting like it’s Game of Thrones’ final season level of bad. Unfortunately, a lot of the criticism comes just because one of the main characters has a scene where he comes out as gay.
Regardless of what your beliefs are on that, the show had already made it glaringly obvious that Will was gay. Not just this season, but the previous season has shown it. As far as having a scene for him to come out to most of the characters, that shouldn’t be an issue either.
Will mentions that Vecna, the show’s villain, entered Will’s mind, showing that Will fears coming out to his friends as gay and not being received well. With him being able to do this right before their big fight, he’s able to conquer his final fear and go into the fight with none.

When the final fight happens, there are multiple times when he says, “I’m not afraid of you anymore.” Vecna can no longer show Will future fears because he no longer has any.
Does Stranger Things (2025), and especially this season, have some pretty bad writing as far as dialogue goes?
Absolutely, this season has some pretty cringey moments. I understand that they are kids, that they are going to talk a little awkwardly, and that it was the 80s. But it seems like it’s written like so many other movies are, with the silly one-liners and super corny jokes that don’t land. I feel like it was more in this season than in previous seasons.
Season four definitely had a lot of it as well, but this season felt like it had more compared to the others. While some of the dialogue in Stranger Things (2025) isn’t the best, there are definitely some plot holes people find with the way the plot wraps up and how it was done. The show went across five seasons and covered a lot of ground.
There seem to be some missing pieces to the giant puzzle of the main villain for Stranger Things. There are some lines of dialogue in previous seasons that don’t add up when you watch the final season. And there are some pretty strange errors in the universe in the rules they have created in that universe.
For example, in Stranger Things (2025), there is a thing called the Upside Down, which is a basic hellish world. In this world, there are monsters all around. In season four, when they went to the upside-down, there were a lot of bats flying around.

These bats were mutated monsters and were very deadly. And in the finale of season five, we don’t see any of them. They were a very big problem in season four, and we also learned that the villain could control him with his mind. So wouldn’t he, in the final battle, have used them to his advantage and had them attack the heroes?
Of course, nothing is perfect, but there are definitely some errors like this that have left people scratching their heads.
I don’t think there’s anything that’s necessarily massive as far as errors or things that don’t make sense. It’s just a bunch of little things that add up. Beyond that, though, I can’t deny the feeling I had watching the finale; it definitely brought back a lot of memories, since I have been watching the show for years.
I absolutely love some of the music choices this season, and especially in the finale. For a show set in the 80s, one of the biggest artists of the time was Prince. From what I recall, there weren’t any songs in the show until the finale. And finally, hearing Prince in that finale was pretty incredible, and it was a great needle drop.
Of course, one of my favorite bands is Iron Maiden, so to see them finally get a needle drop in the finale was pretty awesome. In the finale of Stranger Things (2025), there was just great music left and right for the last 30 minutes, it seemed like, with Cowboy Junkies, and then ending the show with “Heroes” by David Bowie.
This season of Stranger Things (2025) isn’t the best of the seasons, but I think a lot of people can agree it’s not as bad as season two.

The way they wrapped up in the finale, I think, is good enough for me. It didn’t necessarily blow my mind as some other shows have with their finales, but I think it was still good enough. I definitely wanted it to be a little better, but I don’t necessarily know what they could’ve done, since I don’t really love the villain they have had in the last few seasons, Vecna.
I think a lot of the reason I don’t have as many issues with the final season of Stranger Things (2025) is how it made me feel. I was very invested in the characters and felt emotionally attached to the final few episodes, watching them in such dire situations. I think most people would agree that the original cast of characters is among the best we have seen in a long time, as far as TV shows go.
They are iconic, and I think there’s a reason why so many people loved them.
Spoilers ahead for Stranger Things (2025), but I have to address one thing. With a show that has had so many characters die, the majority of the main cast had yet to die, and many people expected a couple of them to die off in the finale. What we got was only one of them, El. But with El, it seems there was a pretty good chance she survived.
People seem disappointed with Stranger Things (2025), and they thought that would’ve helped make the show better, but it seems they might have kept it alive because of all the future shows for Stranger Things (2025) they have planned. They aren’t doing more live-action ones. It seems like they’re doing a couple of animated ones, prequels, or spinoffs. I don’t know if that’s the reason they didn’t kill them off, but it’s hard to say without knowing the future.

I thought for sure Steve was going to die in Stranger Things (2025), but seeing them all around after the group beat the final villain definitely felt pretty neat, though. The last 30 minutes felt pretty special, seeing them just enjoying life without having to worry about the upside down or any evil at all.
So I might be in the minority on that: I understand the show did a good job of having characters die in meaningful ways, but that doesn’t always have to be the standard.
