Stray Fawn Studio just revealed that their upcoming game ‘The Wandering Village’, a city-builder on the back of a giant creature, is coming to Xbox Series X|S. Players will be able to take part in the game’s development via Xbox Game Preview.

This marks Stray Fawn’s second release on Xbox, following the launch of their game ‘Niche – a genetics survival game’ on the platform just a couple of months ago. ‘The Wandering Village’ launch date and price point haven’t been announced yet. The news was revealed at the / twitchgaming Showcase: ID@Xbox event on August 10, alongside a brand-new trailer that offers a glimpse into the world and lore of the game.

At its core, ‘The Wandering Village’ is a city-building and resource management game with rogue-like and survival elements. Players need to farm various crops to keep their villagers fed, send out foraging missions to gather rare resources, and scout the environment while constantly expanding their settlement. Of course, living on the back of a living, breathing beast comes with its own challenges, such as helping to maintain the creature’s health as it wanders through a variety of different biomes, each with its own perks and challenges.

Development of ‘The Wandering Village’ began two years ago. After a successful Kickstarter campaign in late 2020 and the game’s participation at this year’s E3, Stray Fawn Studio is excited to reveal more of the game as they continue their development journey.

Key features:

  • Build a village on the back of a giant creature.
  • Farm various crops to feed your villagers.
  • Send out foraging missions to gather rare resources.
  • Survive a variety of different biomes and events.
  • Build a relationship with a giant beast and influence its actions.
  • Ecology/Biology inspired gameplay.
  • Unique art style with a blend of 3D and hand-drawn, hand-animated 2D graphics.
