Revenues from cloud gaming are projected to skyrocket by 62% year over year to $4.3 billion in 2023.

Cloud gaming has brought about a change in the gaming business over the past few years and has quickly become a popular option for gamers who play games for fun. Instead of purchasing a system and a disc, gamers now have the option of streaming games to any display they already possess, thanks to services like Steam Cloud Play, Nintendo Switch Cloud, Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Now. This indicates that gamers can play the most recent AAA games even on their mobile devices. At the same time, game producers have the option of selling games through subscription services rather than dealing with physical copies or digital downloads.

Although cloud gaming has been around for quite some time now, analysts predict that the industry will experience tremendous growth in 2023, with both sales and users reaching new heights. According to the research, global earnings from cloud gaming are anticipated to skyrocket by a staggering 62% year-over-year and reach $4.3 billion in 2023.

The total market generated approximately $580 million in income in 2018, according to a survey conducted by Statista. This figure takes into account money generated from subscriptions to cloud gaming platforms as well as in-game purchases made using cloud gaming games. After another year and a half, the revenue reached over $1 billion, representing a year-over-year growth of 43 percent. According to the statistics, the market reached a value of $1.67 billion in 2021 after experiencing a massive rise of 53% year-over-year. In the year 2022, this number reached $2.67 billion, representing a further growth of 59%.

Statistics indicate that the year 2023 will see the greatest annual rise, with individuals spending $4.34 billion on cloud gaming—a 62.5% increase over what they spent in the previous year. According to projections made by Statista, the whole market will keep expanding at a compound annual growth rate of 44.1% over the course of the next four years, eventually reaching a value of $18.7 billion.

When compared to other countries, the USA has the most revenue from cloud gaming. Statista projects that the market for cloud gaming in the United States will bring in more than $1.2 billion in revenue in 2018, or 28 percent of the global total. The Chinese market, which is the world’s second-largest, is expected to experience a decrease in revenues of approximately $900 million, which is equivalent to a decrease of 25%. Japan, the United Kingdom, and Germany come in much below the United States, with total contributions of $364.7 million, $198.3 million, and $179.8 million, respectively.

In addition to substantial increases in revenue, the cloud gaming sector witnessed an increase in its user base of an average of one hundred million people annually. 182.3 million people around the world used cloud gaming services in 2022, an increase over the previous year’s figure of 102.6 million users. This number is anticipated to skyrocket to 295 million in 2023, and by the end of 2024, it is anticipated that the entire market will have reached more than 395 million users across the globe.
