Craig Mazin is planning on making a Baldur’s Gate TV show after he finishes The Last of Us on HBO.
HBO is continuing its reign of TV shows based on video games with a Baldur’s Gate adaptation in the works. I’m very excited to see what will come of this, as HBO seems to have done a good job with its television shows.
Especially The Last of Us and how well it was adapted from the first video game. It also helps that we have Craig Mazin leading the front, as he is one of the main reasons The Last of Us show did so well and was so good.
I’m also glad to see them doing it and not some other studio. HBO is a lot more adult-oriented, and it tries to be a little more serious than other avenues. Both The Last of Us and Baldur’s Gate are adult games, so it’s good to see them getting an adult company when it comes to their TV shows.
Craig Mazin is a gamer, which is one of the most important things when adapting a video game.
He mentioned that he has put in over 1,000 hours in Baldur’s Gate 3. I am very glad to hear this, as he mentioned something similar with The Last of Us video game, and it definitely shows in the show.

We need more people who have actually played the games to make the adaptations that appear on-screen.
Return to Silent Hill is a great example because the director had not played the game, and it shows. The film had such great potential, but it’s going to go down as one of the worst video game adaptations in a while. Look at how good The Last of Us show did in its first season, and I think Boulder’s Gate will be no different.
Also, the show will continue the story of Baldur’s Gate 3, which is very exciting to see. I’m curious to see if they will do the same with The Last of Us, showing events that happen after the second game, since they have fleshed out the characters more in the adaptation of the second game.
