BUCK Games Kicks Off with The Electric State: Kid Cosmo.

BUCK, the award-winning design studio known for creating animations for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Love, Death + Robots, and Secret Level, is expanding with the launch of BUCK Games—a new game development studio. Their first release is The Electric State: Kid Cosmo, a mobile game that serves as a prequel to Netflix’s The Electric State, directed by the Russo Brothers and produced by AGBO.

The Electric State: Kid Cosmo combines adventure and puzzles with interactive gameplay and emotional storytelling. If you’re a Netflix member, you can start playing now on iOS and Android. Michael Highland, Creative Director of the new studio, shared the excitement and challenge of expanding into gaming. “Building a game inside a bigger universe pushed our creativity and problem-solving skills,” Highland said. “We set out to do something bold and unique, and our partners helped make that happen.”

The studio’s Game Dev Evolution, BUCK Games, isn’t new to gaming. Their first title, Let’s! Revolution!, was a collaboration with creative audio studio Antfood. This roguelike twist on Minesweeper blended turn-based tactics with stunning hand-drawn animation. Available on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch, the game holds a strong Metacritic score of 88 and racked up nominations for Best Character Animation at the Annie Awards and Strategy Game of the Year at the Thinky Awards.

Beyond their own games, BUCK has already made a mark in the gaming world, crafting animated trailers and artwork for games such as VALORANT, League of Legends, Genshin Impact, Batman: Arkham Shadow, Asgard’s Wrath II, FIFA 23, and Brawl Stars. Now, with the launch of BUCK Games, they’re going all in on game development, bringing their unique artistic touch to original, high-quality titles.

Marla Anyomi, Production Director at BUCK Games, highlighted their flexible, creative approach. “The Electric State: Kid Cosmo and Let’s! Revolution! are totally different, but both have their own magic,” Anyomi said. “We’re not locking ourselves into one genre or style—our strength is in the crazy range of what BUCK’s artists, animators, and designers can create alongside our team of veteran developers.” BUCK Games is here to shake things up in game development, blending top-tier artistry with imaginative gameplay. The Electric State: Kid Cosmo is out now on mobile.
