Sadly, unlike Dark Souls 2, the Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition’s servers will be permanently offline.
Dark Souls and FromSoftware have had a bit of a tumultuous time as of late. Servers for many of the series’ titles have been suffering from security issues, which have resulted in the shutting down of servers on: Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition, Dark Souls 2: Scholar’s of the First Sin, and Dark Souls 3.
The quickest to get back online were the Dark Souls 3 servers, which had returned in August, though the servers did go offline once again before returning in September. Now, joining its successor, Dark Souls 2: Scholar’s of the First Sin’s online servers have returned.
The official Dark Souls Twitter account posted this:
Sadly, FromSoftware has announced that they will not be able to support online services on PC for the Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition, meaning that the game’s online servers are permanently disabled. However, in a good sign, the servers for Dark Souls Remastered are being worked on, with the official Twitter stating this:
