A reported September 15 release could bring Diablo 4 and its major expansions to Nintendo's latest console for $69.99.
Diablo 4 might be heading to Nintendo Switch 2 sooner than expected. According to the sources, Blizzard's massive action RPG could launch on the console on September 15 for $69.99, giving Switch 2 owners another big third-party game to sink their teeth into. The reported release details suggest the Switch 2 version will be called the "Age of Hatred Collection."
Rather than being just the base game, the package is expected to include Diablo 4 along with its expansions, including Vessel of Hatred and Lord of Hatred. That makes the collection a tempting option for players who have never played Diablo 4. However, there's an interesting catch with the physical release.
According to sources, retailers may sell a physical box, but it reportedly won't include an actual game card. Instead, the box is expected to contain a download code. So, yes, players could walk into a store, pick up a big Diablo 4 box, take it home and open it up, only to find a code waiting inside.
It is a familiar approach for some modern releases, but it is still bound to leave physical-game fans scratching their heads. The move itself is not exactly out of left field. Blizzard and Nintendo have worked together before, with Diablo 3 coming to the original Switch. Nintendo even released a Diablo-themed Switch system, so seeing the series return to Nintendo hardware feels like a natural next step.

This time, though, the much more powerful Switch 2 could give Diablo 4 a better shot at running smoothly on Nintendo's platform.
That is the biggest question surrounding the reported release. Diablo 4 is a demanding game, filled with huge environments, hordes of enemies, online features and plenty of visual effects flying across the screen. How well all of that translates to Switch 2 will be something worth watching if the September release actually happens.
Blizzard also has a bigger reason to make the jump. Diablo 4 remains one of Blizzard's major games, and bringing it to another platform could introduce the game to a completely new group of players. Switch 2 owners who have been waiting for a portable version would suddenly have a much easier way to explore Sanctuary. For Nintendo fans, September could therefore get a little more chaotic.
Between the base game and its expansions, the reported Age of Hatred Collection could offer a lot of Diablo 4 content in one package. Nothing has been officially confirmed yet, so the September 15 date and the reported $69.99 price should still be taken with some caution. But if the details are accurate, Diablo 4 could be preparing to unleash demons on Switch 2 very soon. And if that $70 box really contains nothing but a download code, will Switch 2 players still be ready to answer the call of Sanctuary?
