Digimon TCG Codes and Time Stranger DLC Rumors Emerge

Digimon continues to deliver new updates across its TCG, games, mobile titles, and upcoming releases, with fresh details surrounding Digimon Alysion and Time Stranger adding to an already busy year.

Digimon fans may be enjoying a bit of a quiet spell, but the series continues to churn out news in almost every aspect of its ecosystem. Fans have a lot to keep track of, from modifications to the Digimon Card Game to new information about Digimon Alysion and possible future content for Digimon Story: Time Stranger.

The newest Digimon Card Game ban list has had an impact despite changing only four cards. Nanimon is now fully forbidden, and BT14 Patamon and Analog Youth are both limited to 1 copy. Interestingly, X Antibody has also been impacted despite being near the tail end of its life cycle. But X Antibody tactics may have even more potential to become powerful in upcoming sets like EX-14, Chivalrous 13, Ignition of X, and Abyss of X.

Another interesting development is Digimon Alysion, with unconfirmed information claiming ST25 and ST26, its upcoming beginning decks, may be tied to the real card game itself.

The beginning decks are supposed to include Digimon such as RubiDramon, Canaan, Yukinamon, and Valna. At the same time, the upcoming Ignition of X booster set is said to have app-linked serial codes. If true, players could redeem them in Alysion, creating a system similar to the online codes that come with Pokémon Trading Card Game merchandise.

As of now, there’s talk of one code per booster box, which might give players an in-game prize like a digital booster pack. More importantly, these codes suggest Alysion will be available in time for the premiere of Ignition of X in December. More is on the way for the TCG, with the Timeless Bonds set arriving in September.

The expansion will include Time Stranger, the Olympos XII and Kunlun, and the long-awaited Hyokomon evolution line to the card game. Meanwhile, attention has also shifted to Digimon Up. Data mining seems to have revealed upcoming content featuring Matt and Gabumon, as well as support for MetalGarurumon SP.

However, the mobile game has been notably silent on its official social media, prompting speculation that the developers and Bandai Namco could be gearing up for a bigger response to the game's recent reception. A roadmap, apology, or explanation may arrive before the current banners end. Whether it leads to a major reversal is unknown. But the game seems to need a big push to regain momentum.

Also, a big expansion for Digimon Story: Time Stranger is planned for 2027, but no other concrete info is available.

Reports say that the new Time Stranger DLC will be bigger than the first rounds of content for the game, so there’s lots of room for new Digimon and story developments. One recent Digimon Beatbreak popularity poll might hint at what fans want to see next. Elizamon clearly won the vote with 26.2%, well ahead of Helugamon at 11.6%. 

Other popular options included Fumamon, Algamon, Mephismon, and a few others. There’s a lot of conjecture that due to the ties some of these Digimon have to Greek mythology, they could someday appear in Time Stranger’s DLC. The expansion might be unveiled at just about any major gaming event, such as Gamescom Opening Night Live, Tokyo Game Show, or The Game Awards.

Or it could even appear as an unexpected social media announcement. We might see a disclosure at Digimon Con in March 2027, but that event is probably better for a release date/big announcement rather than initial DLC details. Beyond the DLC, rumors suggest a future complete edition of Time Stranger. This would likely come after the expansion and could be packaged with the base game and the content as a single release.
