Digimon Time Stranger DLC Tease Had A Major Leak

A confusing social media post briefly led fans to believe Arcadium was finally coming to Digimon Story: Time Stranger.

Digimon Story: Time Stranger fans were momentarily teased with the possibility of a long-requested Digimon finally coming to the game, only for Digimon Games Japan to clarify that the apparent tease was a huge social media blunder. The latest Nintendo Direct had no major news for Digimon Story: Time Stranger.

But during the presentation, the Japanese Digimon Games account put out a “Who’s That Digimon?” graphic with a silhouette and Time Stranger logo. The post said it would unveil the mystery Digimon tomorrow.

Fans quickly picked up on the timing.

Its silhouette looked like Arcadiamon, a Digimon from the game Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker's Memory. With Arcadiamon conspicuously absent from Time Stranger, many fans quickly concluded the post was referring to its debut as part of the next DLC. Speculation ran rampant, and fans began talking about the possibility of Arcadiamon being added to the game's lineup.

Some were thrilled at the possibility of finally recruiting the Digimon, but others wondered about the choice to include content that had been cut and sell it as downloadable content. The scenario became even more confusing when the post featured Time Stranger branding and the same overall visual style used in the game's latest DLC marketing. That made the apparent teasing of the Arcadiamon seem more deliberate than unintentional.

However, Digimon Games Japan later fixed the post. The picture has since been updated to show Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker's Memory, and the account said the caption was a mistake. The clarification states that the featured Digimon appears in Hacker’s Memory, but does not appear in the main tale of Time Stranger, nor in its major DLC, The Will of a Hero and A Hero’s Eternal Legacy. That means that Arcadiamon wasn’t teased for the next content after all.

The error has left followers wondering why the original post was even labeled as Time Stranger in the first place. Adding to the confusion, the post reportedly continued using the #TimeStranger hashtag even after the clarification. But there may be some good news for Arcadiamon fans. This uncertainty could mean the Digimon gets a reference book listing or renewed attention when Hacker's Memory appears on Steam in Japan.

However, there is currently no assurance that Time Stranger will incorporate Arcadiamon.

Time Stranger is also caught up in a recent Steam achievements database leak. The game used to have 46 achievements, but the Steam page now lists 55, including eight hidden awards. There are nine achievements for A Hero’s Eternal Legacy, according to the data we have. While this doesn't spoil any of the story for the DLC, the number of accomplishments might give some hint as to the total size of the thing.

There are 46 achievements for the main game, compared to what looks like nine for the DLC. These could be plot chapters, important events, or other activities; however, nothing has been verified. But fans will have to wait for now, as Bandai Namco will need to release more information about the DLC officially. The Arcadiamon incident may have been a simple social media gaffe, but it sure generated a lot of chatter before the correction was issued.
