EA is paying a substantial amount of money to maintain the Premier League Licence, one of the biggest licences in World Football (Soccer)
EA has supposedly closed this deal with the Premier League that will ensure its appearance in EA Sports FC (Formerly FIFA). This new deal is supposedly worth £488 million, with this extension being worth almost double the previous agreement.
It was reported via Sky Sports that 20 teams have supposedly been briefed regarding this new six-year partnership, with one club executive stating that the deal would deliver more than £80 million annually.
This new deal solidifies the future for EA’s next football-based title. Unlike Konami’s own eFootball series, EA has managed to own the licences for whole leagues like the Premier League. In contrast, Konami has unfortunately been relegated to simply gaining the licences of teams, giving them an edge in the competition. This is a major move by EA, especially after the loss of the official FIFA licence.
Here at GamesCreed, our review of FIFA 23 said that it was the “future of football gaming with Hypermotion2. With the considerable improvements made, this is undoubtedly one of the most authentic football games ever. It’s sad to see a historic franchise come to a close, but FIFA 23 capped off a great ending to what has been an inconsistent era”.
