Fallout season 2 isn’t doing as well as season one, but there are a lot of reasons why.
Fallout season 2 premiered at number seven on the Nielsen list, which basically measures the popularity of a TV show. The first season claimed the number one spot on the Nielsen list when it initially launched in 2024.
The first season was released all in one. Every episode was available at once. Season 2 is premiering week by week. For some shows, this works in their favor, as people won’t just go to the show and be done with it. People keep checking in each week to watch the new episodes, which helps with the numbers.
But it seems this theory isn’t working out for the Fallout TV show right now.
It did work out for a couple of other shows, such as The Last of Us and Landman. But I believe Fallout has some pacing issues. It’s not as fast-paced as the first season was. Also, the first season kind of came out of nowhere with its popularity; it was something hot and new.
Season 2, I believe, will do well eventually, as people are agreeing that the latest episode, episode five, is the best so far. Fallout is doing a slow burn this season, and it will pay off.

I believe that near the end of this season, things will ramp up in the numbers as well. I believe a lot of people are just waiting for the whole season to be out and probably will binge it all in a week or two. Once that happens, the numbers will skyrocket, and the ratings will probably go up as well.
This season is far from terrible.
It’s just giving the characters time to develop and creating more stories for the universe to expand on. Now that the pieces are in place, things are starting to get very interesting, and the pace is moving more quickly for Fallout season 2.
While the numbers might be down, I do believe that they will go up eventually. There are just a lot of shows on right now hogging viewership, such as Landman and Stranger Things, which is finishing up its last season. Fallout will get its time of day. It might just be when the show finishes its current season.
