Square Enix has unleashed a flood of Final Fantasy news, including the release date for Final Fantasy 7 Revelations and the debut of a playable demo for Final Fantasy Resonance. The announcements give fans something to look forward to as the franchise gears up for another big year.
Final Fantasy Resonance is especially noteworthy as its imminent launch is transforming its mobile roots into a full console experience. Final Fantasy 7 Revelations is slated to arrive on April 8, 2027, and will feature two post-launch DLC expansions that will include more content focused on Sephiroth and Vincent.
There was more big game news from the current PlayStation State of Play beyond Final Fantasy announcements. Until Dawn 2 also got an official release date, with the horror sequel arriving on January 28, 2027. A debut in October could have been more suitable for the franchise, but the 2026 release calendar is getting increasingly congested, and that likely drove the decision.
The planned sequel will also have an interesting relationship with AdHoc, the studio behind Dispatch that is said to have helped with production. Both games are extremely different experiences, but the studio’s involvement could be a good indication for fans of the original Until Dawn.

For Sony, it means merely avoiding the topic may not be enough to make it go away. Outside of the PlayStation scandal, Square Enix has also released some crucial updates for Final Fantasy fans, including news on Final Fantasy Resonance.
Next up on this list is an odd title: it originally started life as a mobile game before being ported to a bigger console experience. Square Enix has already shown this technique can work with Octopath Traveler Zero, which successfully transitioned from its mobile origins into a full game. Like Final Fantasy Resonance, it’s also designed to appeal to longstanding fans with a more traditional turn-based combat system and a style that’s reminiscent of the franchise’s previous entries.
The game is due out in October, and you can check out a playable demo right now. Importantly, any progress you make in the demo carries over to the full version if you decide to purchase the game. That provides fans a chance to judge whether the odd leap from mobile title to console experience has paid off.
