The PlayStation launch has been delayed, but owners of the Premium Edition can still start early.
If you were planning to play Forza Horizon 6 on PS5 this year, you'll need to adjust that plan. The PlayStation version has been delayed, and it now has a new release date in January 2027. The studio shared the update on social media and in a blog post. According to those announcements, Forza Horizon 6 will launch on PS5 on January 26.
If you own the Premium Edition, you get early access five days before that, on January 21. The first expansion for Forza Horizon 6 also releases on January 21 across all platforms, which means PlayStation players with the Premium Edition can play the expansion on day one.
The delay came as a bit of a surprise. With winter coming up, you would expect the studio to want to take advantage of the season and get the game out as soon as it could. Instead, the release has been pushed back to the end of January next year.
Some people have suggested that Grand Theft Auto VI is the reason for the delay, but that doesn't seem likely. Forza Horizon 6 is a very different game, and even though Grand Theft Auto VI has cars in it too, the two titles offer very different experiences.
There is room for both Forza Horizon 6 and Grand Theft Auto VI, so one doesn't need to get out of the way of the other. A more likely explanation is that the studio wanted to release the game alongside the first expansion. Putting the console launch and the expansion in the same week would explain the new date, especially since Premium Edition players get both on January 21.

The team may also have needed more time to build out the PlayStation version of Forza Horizon 6.
That makes sense too, since bringing a game to a new platform takes extra work. If you've been playing Forza Horizon 6 on PC, you already know how much there is to do. It's the kind of game you can keep coming back to for a very long time, and it gets updated constantly, so there's always something new to try. If you like racing games but don't want something that is overly simulated, Forza Horizon 6 is the one to pick up.
Once the PlayStation version arrives, you'll be able to jump in on PS5 and enjoy the same game. Until then, mark January 21 on your calendar if you're going with the Premium Edition, or January 26 if you're not. Forza Horizon 6 is built to last, so a few extra weeks of waiting won't change how much you get out of it, and whenever Forza Horizon 6 does land on PS5, you'll have plenty of time to spend with it.
