A new in-engine showcase highlights food rendering and atmospheric visuals but offers no gameplay details.
Game Science just put out a brand-new in-engine video for its upcoming Black Myth: Zhong Kui project. The video doesn’t really have anything to do with Black Myth: Zhong Kui itself, though. The developer showed off a special Chinese New Year show that lasted more than 6 minutes without warning.
This video is mostly about showing how the game works technically, not about showing how to play or tell a story. It shows off the studio’s newest graphics tools and some of their more unusual rendering methods. There is very realistic food, demons, and people in the showcase, set in scenes that are both comforting and a little frightening.
It looks like these strange visual arrangements were made to show off lighting, texture detail, and animation accuracy. During the presentation, Game Science puts a lot of emphasis on visual technology, especially its method for rendering realistic food. The video clip is more of a proof-of-concept than a sneak peek at the action-RPG itself.

The action RPG Black Myth: Zhong Kui hasn’t come out yet, so there isn’t any standard gameplay footage for people to watch right now.
A technical showcase instead of a launch of the game.
There is a brief, strange moment near the end of the video that makes you think there is more going on, but the credits make it clear that the presentation has nothing to do with the game’s main story. There is still a lot to like about the show for people who are interested in Chinese symbols and new graphics technology. But for now, there aren’t many useful clues about Black Myth: Zhong Kui itself.
