Amazon’s God of War is finally gearing up for production, and fans couldn’t be more excited.
God of War fans, get ready, but wait, not for a new game. What you should be excited about is the TV series. Amazon Prime Video’s God of War is apparently going to start filming in March of next year, with Vancouver set as the production hub. Vancouver has become a major filming hotspot, especially thanks to the city’s big tax credits, plus it offers the kind of setting that a God of War show could need.
The series was first announced in December 2022, but it was rebooted about a year ago due to some changes. Now, Ronald D. Moore, the creative mind behind Battlestar Galactica and For All Mankind, is leading the charge as writer and executive producer.
With his track record, fans have plenty to look forward to. If filming is truly around the corner, the main cast is probably already locked in, and an official announcement could come before the end of the year. If everything goes to plan, we can expect the show to drop in 2027.
Amazon’s been going all out on game adaptations recently. Fallout was a big success for them, but sadly, Like a Dragon: Yakuza didn’t quite reach the same heights. Still, it showed that Amazon is serious about bringing gaming IPs to the screen.

Other projects in the pipeline include a Tomb Raider series starring Sophie Turner, a Mass Effect adaptation from the Fallout team, plus Wolfenstein and Life is Strange shows. And let’s not forget Henry Cavill’s Warhammer 40K, but we are yet to hear much on it.
As for God of War, the cast hasn’t been officially revealed yet. Until Amazon shares more details, you keep doing the guesswork. All we know is that the hype for Kratos, possibly coming to TV, is real.
With Moore taking the reins and production gearing up, God of War could not only be one of the biggest game adaptations, but if done right, could be one of the biggest shows ever. The only thing Amazon can take a lesson from is not casting Bella Ramsey (if you know, you know).
