A retail listing leak suggests that the upcoming Xbox Series X and PS5 ports of Grand Theft Auto 5 will have a massive change to the online mode.

It’s not all that surprising that Rockstar is bringing Grand Theft Auto over to the next-generation consoles as it is the most profitable entertainment product of all time. And as it so happens, Grand Theft Auto 5’s transition to next-gen consoles will include a big enhancement for the Grand Theft Auto Online multiplayer mode.

Leaking some information about the game, various retailers have started posting Grand Theft Auto 5 PS5 pre-order pages online. The Grand Theft Auto 5 PS5 port will retail at full price, but it will also be upping the number of players in Grand Theft Auto Online according to the listings. Then Grand Theft Auto Online will support up to 64 players in a single game on Xbox Series X and PS5, which is double what is currently available.

There is very little we know about Rockstar’s plans for Grand Theft Auto 5 when it comes to the next-gen release at this point. But we do know that Grand Theft Auto 5’s Online component will actually as a standalone release.

When it launches in 2021, the GTA Online standalone release will also be made available for free to PlayStation Plus subscribers. A specific release date for GTA Online on PS5 has not been revealed just yet, but it will be available before the next-gen version of the single-player campaign. It’s been nearly two years since Red Dead Redemption 2 launched and Many fans have expressed disappointment that Rockstar has yet to reveal its next new release.

Rumors have pointed to Rockstar’s next game being Grand Theft Auto 6 or even a Bully sequel, but until Rockstar itself decides to share more information, all fans can do is speculate. Grand Theft Auto 5 is available now for Xbox One, PC, PS3, PS4, and Xbox 360, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
