Rockstar Games has shared its largest batch of Grand Theft Auto VI details so far, teasing deeper customization, a richer open world, smarter gameplay systems, and plenty of surprises waiting across Leonida.
Grand Theft Auto VI is still months away, but the excitement around Rockstar's next blockbuster just shifted into another gear. Fresh details reportedly shared by the studio have given fans their clearest look yet at what the game has to offer, and if the latest information is anything to go by, GTA 6 is shaping up to be far more than a simple sequel.
Nearly every part of the experience has been expanded. Characters will be more customizable, vehicles will offer deeper upgrades, homes will play a bigger role, and the world itself looks packed with activities that go well beyond the main story. It feels like Rockstar is taking everything players enjoyed in GTA 5 and pushing it several steps further.
Character customization is getting one of the biggest upgrades. Returning features like tattoo parlors, clothing stores, and barber shops will be joined by dedicated beauty salons where Lucia can change her hairstyle, makeup, and even nail designs. As the franchise's first female lead, she is expected to have a much larger wardrobe and far more appearance options than previous protagonists.
Homes are also becoming much more important. Unlike GTA 5, where properties were mostly unlocked as the story progressed, GTA 6 could finally let players buy apartments during the single-player campaign. Luxury buildings such as the Pegassi Residences will include spacious garages capable of storing multiple vehicles, giving players more freedom over how they build their collection.

Car enthusiasts have another reason to be excited.
A new customization garage called Ride Out Customs reportedly allows players to redesign both the inside and outside of their vehicles. Everything from rims to interior styling can be changed, and early images even suggest players may be able to watch mechanics work on their cars in real time.
While this particular workshop is said to be exclusive to the Ultimate Edition, similar customization shops are expected to be available throughout the map. Jason's trailer appears to be the first safe house players will use. It includes enough space to park several vehicles, including boats, making it clear that waterways will play a much bigger role than before.
Ultimate Edition owners are also expected to receive bonus starter vehicles, including the military-inspired Dinka Enduro motorcycle and a Crest kayak. The world itself looks enormous. Vice City may be the heart of the adventure, but it is only one piece of a much larger map.
Players are expected to travel through the Leonida Keys, the Grassrivers wetlands, Port Gellhorn, and Mount Kalaga National Park. Some fans even believe parts of the landscape resemble areas beyond Florida, suggesting Rockstar's version of Leonida could stretch farther than expected.
The biggest question is simple: what actually makes GTA 6 feel like a true next-generation sequel?
The answer seems to lie in the game's new gameplay systems. Weapons are becoming much more personal. Players will reportedly be able to decorate firearms with unique artwork and customize them with an expanded selection of attachments. Large scopes, custom finishes, and personalized designs all appear to be part of the package.

Nature is getting much more attention too. Dolphins can reportedly swim alongside boats, scuba diving is making a return, and players will finally be able to fish while out on the water. Compared to the relatively quiet oceans of GTA 5, the new world looks far more alive.
The same goes for life on land. Dirt bike trails, muddy off-road routes, biker events, roadside attractions, and plenty of small activities are scattered throughout the map. Rather than simply driving from mission to mission, players may find themselves stopping constantly to see what is happening nearby.
One of the most surprising additions is a feature borrowed from Red Dead Redemption 2. Jason and Lucia’s hair will truly grow over time rather than instantly change on a trim. Players will only be able to choose hairstyles that match their current hair length, so the character evolution will feel much more natural.
Rockstar also did a really good job on the game’s looks.
New pictures apparently reveal more realistic hair physics, smoother animations and greater environmental features than the debut trailer back in 2023. Even small touches, like hair moving naturally in the wind, help make the world feel more believable.
Combat behind the wheel is getting an upgrade as well. Players will reportedly be able to lean much farther out of moving vehicles, allowing them to fire in almost every direction while using larger weapons such as assault rifles. High-speed chases could become far more intense than they were in GTA 5.

Then there are the cars, which remain one of the biggest attractions in any GTA game. Rockstar has shown off a variety of new vehicles, from retro muscle cars and classic pickups to heavily modified off-road trucks and updated sports cars. One standout is a refreshed version of the Cheetah Classic, which now looks even closer to the Ferrari that inspired it.
A vehicle collector named Wineman may hand out missions involving stealing, restoring, and delivering cars. If that turns out to be true, collecting vehicles could become much more rewarding than simply filling up a garage.
The world is also packed with things to do when players need a break from crime. Tennis, basketball, pool, mini golf, nightclubs, strip clubs, and other side activities all appear to be returning, giving Vice City an even stronger sense of everyday life.
Players who pre-order the game are expected to receive a Vintage Vice City DLC Pack filled with exclusive clothing, classic-inspired vehicle designs, special hairstyles, weapon skins, and a vintage 1955 Vapid. One interesting detail has caught the community's attention: the classic car reportedly comes with its own weapons locker.
That feature has sparked plenty of speculation.
Rockstar may be bringing back Red Dead Redemption 2's weapon storage system, meaning players would no longer carry every firearm at once. Or extra weapons may be housed within vehicles, making loadouts feel more tactical.
Also, PlayStation players could be rewarded with a few extra benefits. It seems like Rockstar and Sony are teaming up to market GTA 6 on PS5, with things like DualSense, immersive 3D audio, and other PS5 Pro upgrades. The updated console is expected to provide better performance and higher graphic quality.
One last surprise is about the physical edition. Boxed copies may include a download code instead of a game disc. While that may disappoint collectors, it would allow players to preload the massive game before launch, avoiding long waits on release day.
Everything revealed so far points toward Rockstar creating its most detailed world yet. Bigger isn't the only goal this time. The studio appears focused on making every feature feel deeper, every location more interactive, and every system more connected.
If these claims are true, GTA 6 might once again set a new standard for open-world games. The wait is far from over, and clearly Rockstar is keeping a lot of that under wraps. Now the actual question is simple: If this is just the beginning, what more is left behind the curtain?
