The games industry’s favourite icon in Hideo Kojima revealed this alongside the fact that actor Mads Mikkelsen was eyed for the lead role.

Hideo Kojima is one of the games industry’s most beloved figures. The head of Kojima Productions and the intensely maddening mind behind Death Stranding, as well as his magnum opus of Metal Gear Solid, is currently in the industry’s eye. After announcing a project he is working on with Xbox, fans have been speculating about what’s next. Kojima, however, has decided to reminisce.

In a surprising statement from Kojima himself, we have learned of a project that ‘could have been’. A title that was said to be similar to The Boys on Amazon Prime. Hideo Kojima stated this on Twitter:

1/2
"THE BOYS," which I quit after 3 episodes of season 1. I thought I'd watch the rest of the show. Actually, I watched a few episodes that were delivered at the time when I was about to start a project that I had been warming up for a long time, pic.twitter.com/UpI00pUIHQ

The famous game director proceeded to reveal various details regarding this title that was sadly not meant to be. According to Kojima, Mads Mikkelsen of Death Stranding and Hannibal fame was said to be the actor he wanted for the lead role. In addition to this, Kojima followed up on his statement:

2/2
and put it on hold because the concept was similar (different settings and tricks). A buddy (male/female) thing with a special detective squad facing off against legendary heroes behind the scenes. I was thinking of Mads as the lead.

Kojima explained how the game was intended to be a ‘special detective squad’ facing off against legendary heroes behind the scenes. Fans of The Boys on Amazon Prime can no doubt see the differences immediately. Of course, this announcement of what the project could have been, fans of Kojima speculated on the prospect of what could have been.

Hideo Kojima and the production studio behind him are notable for quality, so by simple attachment, the game would have a quality level similar to other projects like Death Stranding or Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. However, despite how much fans may wish otherwise, this game is on the shelf for the foreseeable future. Would you want to see this project from Kojima? Do you think the pitch is too similar to The Boys? Comment down below what you think.
