Latest Hollow Knight: Silksong news suggests the release date won’t drop at Nintendo’s Indie World Showcase. Xbox might take the spotlight instead.
As anticipation grows for every Nintendo Indie World Showcase, fans always ask, “Will this be the one where we at last obtain a Hollow Knight: Silksong release date?” This time it might not be, unfortunately.
SwitchForce reports that Silksong will probably not be shown in the next exhibition. Although this may dismay many Nintendo aficionados—especially given that the game is likely to perform best on Steam and Nintendo consoles—there is another side to the tale.
Xbox is formally partnered with Silksong; it should be remembered. Launching as a day-one title on Xbox Game Pass, the game hints that Xbox might want to control the major reveal. Indeed, as Xbox attends Gamescom and features Silksong on the ROG Ally, more people think Gamescom would be the more probable location for an official release date announcement.
Although none of this is immutable, it reminds us to moderate expectations during Nintendo events. Silksong’s reveal might come from Xbox; should it, count on their making a lot of noise about its Game Pass launch.
