Sharing new character details, Jenna Ortega confirms she will be playing Lydia’s Daughter in Beetlejuice 2.

New and returning characters have come back together for the Beetlejuice sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the movie first came about back in 1988, about 35 years later the sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is well underway with some very well-known actors old and new returning to the set for the sequel, one star in particular who will be playing the role of Lydia’s Daughter.

Known for playing roles like, Wednesday Addams from the hit Netflix show, Wednesday, and other roles like Killer Queen. Jenna Ortega confirms her role in the new Sequel, as the daughter of Lydia the iconic character that comes to the aid of the ghosts Barbara and Adam, a married couple who died and are trapped in the house they lived in for an amount of time before they may move on. However, when Barbara’s sister sells the house, Lydia and her family move in without knowing about the house’s haunted statues.

Alongside Jenna Ortega, major actors such as Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, Monica Bellucci, and Willem Dafoe will also be joining on the set of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the film will also be directed by Tim Burton much like in the first movie, another major name in the entertainment industry with films such as The Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, and more. Tim Burton has had years of experience and will most definitely make this a movie to remember.

Jenna Ortega confirmed her role while also revealing some new character details, named Astrid, Jenna Ortega goes on to describe this new character as “Weird, but in a different way.” She goes on to say that Astrid is not “Bright and sunny at all” and hints at the teenage character clashing with her parents.

Seeing as the Sequel is tracking the legacy of the Deetz family, with over 3 decades passing since the original, the cast from the first movie have all aged significantly, the actress who played Lydia, Winona Ryder, was only 17 when the first Beetlejuice was released. This would make an interesting turn to see Lydia with a daughter who’s about the same age as she was when her character was introduced to the audience.

With this description, Astrid Deetz is described as all the more similar to Ortega’s titular character in the Netflix hit show Wednesday. While Wednesday Addams is more firmly on the “opposite end of the spectrum” from “bright and sunny,” she possesses a similar anti-parent teenage energy to that of how Ortega describes the character, Astrid.

Either way, fans have much to look forward to with major actors and the original cast returning to the sets of the sequel, this menagerie of skills will definitely transfer over to Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, making this a movie we won’t soon forget and adding to the comedy/horror genre.
