Marvel Rivals is serving up content you won’t want to miss.
This week, Marvel Rivals is flexing hard. First up, a surprise event called Shou-Lao’s Blessing dropped out of nowhere, and it’s giving players some of the best skins in the game for free. The mini pass is totally free.
And the rewards are actually lit: units (which you can use for store cosmetics), unstable molecules (for alternative costumes and ultimate ability VFX), and even a costume coin that unlocks some of the best outfits in-game. Deadpool, Wolverine, and Malice for Invisible Woman? Yes, please. You don’t even need to grind; just play any game mode to unlock rewards. You’re missing out on a lot if you miss this event.
Hela’s Grim Glow-Up
Things get spicier with the Hela Grim Lady costume. Not free, but you can use units earned from Shou-Lao’s Blessing to get it. Fans were already hyped when it was teased, and honestly, it lives up to the hype. Hela’s looking dangerous, and just… chef’s kiss. Think Lady D from Resident Evil Village energy.
The costume drops on September 26, which translates to about 10 P.M. Eastern on the 25th. And if you’re a collector like me, you’d better start saving units now. It’s the full package, and let’s BFR now. Do you really want to pass on Hela?
Plushies That Hit Different
But wait, it’s not just Hela; the cosmetics don’t stop at costumes. Rivals is bringing adorable plushies to the shop this week for Cloak & Dagger, Magneto, Scarlet Witch, and Luna Snow. Cloak and Dagger get plushies of each other, Luna Snow gets one of White Fox (her comic teammate from Agents of Atlas), and Magneto and Wanda are repping their family with Quicksilver and Polaris plushies.
All of these drop the same day as Grim Lady, so you can flex some serious fan energy while bagging these cute little accessories. It’s giving “I didn’t know I needed this, but now I do” energy.
Map Glow-Up: Heart of Heaven
The new map, Heart of Heaven, is set in the mystical city of Kunlun, and it’s not your standard setting. Thanks to Season 4 lore, all 7 cities of heaven merged into one. The map is packed with nods to immortal beasts and their champions.
These beasts picked heroes for a martial arts tournament to claim Shou-Lao’s chi and become the true Iron Fist. Basically, Doctor Doom shook things up by revealing that Lin, Rivals’ current Iron Fist, didn’t earn his title the OG way. Drama.
The trailer is packed with fan-service moments, if you care (we know you do). Stone Age Avengers? Check. Odin and Ghost Rider in the background? Double-check. Doctor Strange sneak peek? You bet.
Daredevil’s Big Moment
Daredevil is coming at the start of Season 4.5 on October 10, and his story is wild. In the Scroll of the Immortal Beast event, we learned how Matt became Dizang, protector of the lost souls in the 8th City.
After Daredevil defeated The Beast in hell, the immortal beast Yinglong offered him a deal. Matt could absorb The Beast’s power and grow stronger, but in return, he’d help restore the 8th City. If you got excited, you might want to sit your ass down.
It turns out that Yinglong is no saint (of course). He wants Daredevil to enter the tournament to steal the Sword of Fu Xi from Iron Fist and revive the elder god Chiyou. Yinglong claims this will restore balance, but any comic fan knows Chiyou can’t be trusted. If Matt doesn’t get smart, we could be staring down some serious universe-level chaos.
Easter Eggs Galore
Rivals isn’t only adding more stories; they’re also making their incentive system a lot better. There’s a lot to work for, but it all seems worth it. Also, the Easter eggs in Heart of Heaven aren’t just for show; they have more meaning than you may believe, particularly when it comes to legend. With Fan Fei, the first Iron Fist, standing next to Agamotto, Odin, Ghost Rider, and more, it’s just nerd heaven.
PlayStation State of Play Incoming
And just when you thought it couldn’t get bigger, we got news of a State of Play, which is hinting at some huge superhero game reveals, and if Marvel Rivals is any indicator, it’s going to be stacked with moments that make you say, “Yooo, that’s insane.”
