On one hand, there is a massive presentation coming up, packed with more than an hour of announcements and trailers. On the other hand, it is becoming increasingly clear that Wolverine is probably not going to be part of it.

For a while now, you may have been thinking, “Okay, maybe we won’t get a full gameplay reveal, but what if we get something? A small teaser? A quick reminder that the game is still coming?” That kind of thinking makes sense.

When a game like Wolverine disappears for a long time, you naturally start hoping for even the smallest update.

But Insomniac has recently made it clear that real information will be released in spring 2026. They responded to fans directly and set that expectation. Once they did that, many people took it as confirmation that the upcoming State of Play would not include anything substantial about Wolverine.

Back in September 2025, when Insomniac first showed the trailer, they promised more details in the spring. Now we’re realizing that it was a way to manage expectations early. They did not want people spending months waiting for surprise reveals at every big gaming event.

They wanted you to know, clearly, that spring 2026 was the target. So when people started wondering about The Game Awards, random showcases, or surprise drops, Insomniac had already given their answer.

Now, yes, technically, saying “spring 2026” does not completely rule out a tiny teaser. In theory, they could show something small and say, “Hey, full details are coming next month.” But if you are being realistic, that is probably just wishful thinking.

It is the kind of hopeful thinking you fall into when you really love a project and want more information as soon as possible.

The upcoming State of Play is still a big deal. It is over 60 minutes long, which is basically showcase-level. There will be plenty of games, updates, and surprises. You are almost certainly going to see something interesting. It’s probably just not Wolverine. And that is okay. Sometimes, knowing what not to expect is just as important as knowing what to expect.

Now, here is where things start to get more positive. Even though you are not likely to get new footage right now, you may finally have a clearer idea of when you should expect to actually be playing Marvel’s Wolverine.

Originally, Insomniac said the game would launch in fall 2026. That sounds specific, but it really is not. Fall covers September, October, and November. That is a wide window, especially in a year that is expected to be stacked with major releases. Since then, one giant shadow has been hanging over that timeframe: GTA 6.

Now, let’s be for real, GTA 6 is going to dominate everything when it launches. Most people expect it to arrive in November, and Rockstar seems confident, but history tells you that delays are always possible. Still, assuming it does hit November, it would be a nightmare for almost any other major game to release around that time.

From a business perspective, it makes no sense to go head-to-head with GTA 6. This is not about different audiences. Almost everyone who plays games will buy GTA 6. If Wolverine launched near it, it would get swallowed by the hype. PlayStation and Insomniac know this.

So once you rule out November, things start to narrow down.

That leaves September and October as the most realistic options. And if you look at Insomniac’s history, a pattern starts to appear. They like releasing big games in early fall. Spider-Man in 2018 is a great example. September and October seem to be their sweet spot.

Recently, this idea got even more support from a listing on the PlayStation Store in Mexico. According to reports, the original listing mentioned that Marvel’s Wolverine would release in the third quarter of 2026. The third quarter runs from July to September.

On its own, that still covers three months. But when you combine that with Insomniac’s “fall 2026” statement, the picture becomes much clearer. If it is Q3 and also fall, that basically points straight to September.

That does not mean September 2026 is 100 percent confirmed.

Store listings can change. Mistakes happen. Plans shift. But it is strong enough evidence to take seriously. And honestly, even without that listing, September already made the most sense. Now it just feels more official.

A September launch would be smart. It puts Wolverine far enough away from GTA 6 to breathe. It gives PlayStation a massive exclusive for the start of the fall season. And it lines up with Insomniac’s past release habits. From every angle, it works.

For you as a fan, that is actually pretty reassuring. Instead of a vague “sometime next fall,” you can start thinking more concretely. You can imagine yourself playing it in about a year and a half. That makes the wait feel shorter.

Looking ahead, the next big moment is spring 2026 for Wolverine. That is when Insomniac has promised real updates. You can probably expect a proper trailer, gameplay details, and maybe even story information. Ideally, that happens early in the spring, not late. March would be perfect.

If that happened, it would feel like a gift. Suddenly, after years of waiting, things would finally start moving fast. Previews would appear. Discussions would explode. Speculation would turn into real analysis.

Recently, some fans thought Insomniac might be hinting that Daredevil would appear in the game.

That turned out to be nothing more than a pun. The community manager confirmed it. So, for now, you should not expect Daredevil to show up. That does not mean there will be no surprises, though. Many fans are still hoping to see other X-Men and familiar faces from Marvel’s universe.

You do know that Insomniac is serious about this. Their past Marvel games have had great stories, well-designed worlds, and a lot of attention to detail. Wolverine is a character with a rich, emotionally deep history. And from what little you’ve seen, the tone already seems more personal and dark.

You are also probably hoping for deep combat systems, meaningful progression, and lots of alternate suits. Let’s be honest, alternate suits are a must. Wolverine has decades of iconic looks, and leaving them out would be a crime.

So for now, the best thing you can do is stay patient. Enjoy the upcoming State of Play for what it is. Watch for other announcements. Keep an eye on spring 2026. And remember that September 2026 is starting to look like the real target. Marvel’s Wolverine is still coming. It is still being carefully planned. And when Insomniac is finally ready to show it properly, chances are it will be worth the wait.
