Microsoft Reverses Xbox Live Price Hike, Will Add Free Multiplayer For Some Games

Free-to-play games like ‘Fortnite’ will get free multiplayer access on Xbox in the coming months.’

In one of the principal positive Friday night news dumps I can recall, Microsoft has not just turned around its seminar on its ineffectively gotten plan to raise the cost for Xbox Live, it’s adding a treat. Before long, free of charge to mess around (like Fortnite, Apex Legends, or Halo Infinite when it comes out in the not-so-distant future), multiplayer access will be free, making the Xbox a considerably more alluring stage for gamers on a tight budget.

To bring Xbox Live more in line with how we see the player at the center of their experience we will be removing Gold requirements for free-to-play games.

We're starting work on that immediately and will have updates in the coming months. Details: https://t.co/tWomNAwmp9

Playing a game like Fortnite on PlayStation Network or PC has consistently been free, and now Xbox Live will similarly deal with things. The plans declared recently would’ve multiplied the yearly cost for an Xbox Live Gold membership that adds various advantages, however, is generally needed for online multiplayer. Microsoft is pushing its extended membership that incorporates access to the Netflix-like Xbox Game Pass library, and the move would’ve united the costs for new individuals, yet made it significantly more costly to play on Xbox, therefore. Presently, things are remaining the equivalent, but better.

If you are an Xbox Live Gold member already, you will stay at your current price for renewal. New and existing members can continue to enjoy Xbox Live Gold for the same prices they pay today. In the US, $9.99 for 1 month, $24.99 for 3 months, $39.99 for 6 months, and $59.99 for 12 months.
