How MindsEye evolved from a toolkit component to a standalone game.
Originally a part of Build A Rocket Boy’s Everywhere platform, MindsEye has developed into a stand-alone game set to release this June for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. It has a creation suite designed for Everywhere, which now features a story campaign, live content hub, and build mode.
The development emphasis has shifted to MindsEye, leaving Everywhere’s future uncertain. There is also uncertainty regarding whether creation tools will be restricted to PC or accessible across all platforms. Responses to the game are varied; some can’t wait to play, while others are waiting to see how it turns out.
Let’s discuss Everywhere from Build A Rocket Boy. The studio unveiled it in 2022 as a major new game development platform combining user-generated content with open-world gameplay. Using a toolkit named Arcadia, which includes custom maps, items, and AI adversaries, the goal was to allow gamers to create their own games supporting various genres such as racing or shooting.
MindsEye was exhibited at that time as one element of the Everywhere ecosystem—essentially a constructed action game placed in an open world. Things have clearly changed since then, though. MindsEye, which has developed into its own complete standalone title releasing this June for all platforms, was once somewhat smaller. It will also include a creative system designed originally for Everywhere.

As development progressed, the tools made for Everywhere were incorporated into MindsEye, which now has three main parts: a story-driven campaign, a live content hub named Play.MindsEye, and a creation mode called Build.MindsEye.
The team concentrated more on MindsEye over time; it is uncertain whether Everywhere would still be released or if MindsEye has entirely replaced it. Though there is no official statement yet, MindsEye appears to be the main focus right now, as it makes sense—typically, launching a single game is easier than introducing an entirely new platform all at once.
Regarding the creation tools available on consoles versus PCs, there has been some inconsistency. Some sources claim that construction elements are exclusive to PC; others assert that they exist on all platforms, albeit with more sophisticated tools on PC.
Though it’s still unclear how that will play out, we should have more information after the game officially launches soon. There has also been a blend of responses online; while some people are thrilled, others are waiting to see what the game turns out to be before participating.
