Neil Druckmann has revealed his work on an unnamed Naughty Dog IP following the release of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
Druckmann has previously stated his preference for working on a single game at a time. This was stated in February in response to a question about a potential third installment to The Last of Us. He mentioned that game development consumes all of his time, leading him to neglect planning in favor of concentrating on the task at hand. With two AAA titles in development at Naughty Dog, Druckmann is currently working on multiple projects simultaneously, which is pushing him to his limits.
In the aftermath of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, Neil Druckmann has revealed that he is developing an undisclosed Naughty Dog intellectual property. Druckmann recently directed an episode of The Last of Us, an HBO series, so he is now quite busy. He continues to collaborate closely with HBO on the live-action TLoU adaptation and was an integral part of Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. At this point, he has stated that a great deal more is planned.
Naughty Dog is developing two unannounced intellectual properties (IPs): Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and The Last of Us, according to Steffan Powell, host of the Press X to Continue podcast. Druckmann has been mum about the mystery title, but he has revealed that he is more of an “executive” and producer than the film’s primary director. He did mention collaborating with a couple of filmmakers on that project, but it sounds like Intergalactic is still his main priority.

An expert on film and video games named Daniel Richtman dropped hints about The Last of Us Part III earlier this year. He also hinted that Naughty Dog could be developing a second original product and mentioned that the newly announced project is being overseen by Shaun Escayg, the renowned developer of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. Druckmann’s recent remarks fueled rumors that Naughty Dog’s upcoming game might be a spin-off of Uncharted.
According to the same source who initially revealed Naughty Dog’s hidden game, the peculiar intellectual property has been in development for almost three years. Four years into its creation, the business decided to announce Intergalactic at The Game Awards 2024.
If the current trend continues, Naughty Dog is expected to showcase their latest intellectual property at a major gaming event soon. It is widely believed that Neil Druckmann’s recent, more forthcoming comments about the project indicate that the studio is preparing to unveil it to the public. Since nothing has been officially announced, fans should still view these speculations with skepticism.
