Facepunch Studios seems to be adding some new features to Rust, which may include ray tracing.

While it hasn’t been confirmed yet, it seems that Rust is getting some interesting new features, including a backpack, a mannequin, and possibly even ray tracing. Rust is known for its high difficulty level, especially for beginners, but thanks to updates like these, the game still maintains a high replay value.

In a recent Rust video by the YouTuber Shadowfrax, they revealed that Rust is currently going through a “hack week.” During this time, Facepunch Studios works on some possible ideas they want to implement into the game for future updates. This time around, these ideas include the mannequin, which acts as clothes storage and can also be carried around by the player or animated. Another item is the backpack, which adds more inventory space, at the cost of speed. Finally, the game could be getting ray tracing. Shadowfrax does, however, state that this is not guaranteed.

Facepunch Studios has already implemented things such as zip lines and railroads. The game has already implemented a hardcore mode for players who are slightly more masochistic than the rest. Hopefully, we will see things such as the mannequin, backpack, and ray tracing being implemented soon, but we will have to see as it’s up to Facepunch Studios to give the final say.

While Rust is rather notoriously known for being difficult to get into. The studio has been trying to make beginner players have an easier time surviving more than just the first few nights while maintaining the same brutality that the game is famous for. In the meantime, it’s good to see that the studio still has some interesting ideas to add to the game.
