Take a look at Final Fantasy 16’s DLC Rising Tide new boss fight and release date.

To set off the second day of Pax East 2024, the development team for Final Fantasy 16 revealed that the game’s second expansion, The Rising Tide, will be launched on Thursday, April 18. The expansion will be launched alongside a free update for Final Fantasy 16, including adjustments and a new battle mode for players to try out.

The Panel started with a first inside look at the Rising Tides expansion, a first-hand sneak peek at the new upcoming realm of Mysidia, being named after the Final Fantasy 2 and Final Fantasy 4’s magical kingdoms.

It is said that Mysidia is located in the Northern Territories, and other than that little bit of information about Mysidia, only a little information was shared beyond it. The producer of Final Fantasy 16, Naoki Yoshida, was accompanied by DLC Director, Takeo Kujiraoka, and localization lead, Michael-Christopher Koji Fox, for the PAX East panel. The developers went on to further state that players will start The Rising Tide expansion at the Hideaway by reading a mysterious letter.

Within this letter, it asks for the player’s aid in rescuing the Dominant of Leviathan the lost, being the Eikon of Water. Clive and his companions will meet and come to team up with a new character named Shula along the way, closing out the Pax East Panel, Yoshida revealed that The Rising Tide will launch on Thursday, April 18, and it will come at a price of $19.99, being a stand-alone purchase on the PlayStation store.

The game will also have an expansion pass for $24.99 and players with this pass will receive The Rising Tide at no additional price, as the pass will also include access to the game’s first DLC, Echoes of the Fallen. Alongside The Rising Tide DLC, the game will also be releasing patch 1.30 at the same time as a free update to the game. The free update will bring with it adjustments to the battle system, and the players will be able to customize the layouts of their controller buttons freely.

As for the legendary boss battle aspect of the DLC, a trailer for Final Fantasy 16’s upcoming The Rising Tide DLC has been released depicting a new boss fight against the Leviathan. The fastest entry into the mainline of the Iconic Final Fantasy series launched last summer, set in a medieval tale in the twin continents of Valisthea, which are divided into warring Kingdoms that are represented by Eikons, Final Fantasy 16’s take on Summons in the franchise.

During the PAX East 2024 event in Boston, Square Enix showed off a new trailer for Final Fantasy 16’s The Rising Tide DLC, which gave fans a closer look at its plot and gameplay, with Clive and his companions investigating a prophecy around the creation of a new Mothercrystal along with a child sacrifice in the new region of Mysidia, encountering new enemies and unleashing new magical powers. Near the end, fans watch as Clive transforms into Eikon Ifrit for a climactic Eikon battle against Leviathan above a vast ocean.

The trailer also demonstrates some of the new Eikon abilities Clive can unlock on his adventure, at some point, he can be seen firing watery blasts from a sort of gauntlet shaped like a dragon head while also unleashing a tidal wave slash with his sword. The developers on hand at the Pax East 2024 panel further stated that Clive will take these new abilities from leviathan allowing him to summon and launch at his enemies in strategic combos.

In the end, fans have much to expect and much to look forward to in the new adventure that awaits, adding to the franchise and expanding on the territories and what they might bring to players this spring.
