SONY sends a message to all PS4 users that now is the perfect time to buy a PS5.
SONY’s PlayStation 5 was released over 5 years ago, yet tens of millions of gamers are still on PlayStation 4. The funny part is, they seem content with the last-gen console and have no intention of moving to PlayStation anytime soon, or at all – for various reasons.
However, the platform’s manufacturer, SONY, has recently suggested to all PlayStation 4 users that it is now time to upgrade to the PlayStation 5. The news spread like wildfire the moment a Twitter post featured someone reporting that one day, when they booted up their PlayStation 4, the message from SONY appeared on their screen.
The message reads, “Whether you’re catching up with hits from 2025 like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, ARC Raiders, and Ghost of Yotei or ready for the most-anticipated games of 2027, including SAROS, 007 First Light, Nioh 3, and so much more, now’s the perfect time to upgrade to a PS5 console.”
This message pretty much confirms that Sony is finally ready to move on completely from the last-gen console and wants all its customers to benefit from the current one. However, this message has done almost nothing to change the minds of PlayStation 4 users. Especially, the PlayStation 4 port is begging.

They emphasised that there is no reason to upgrade; the console still has life left and can run modern games, even though it was released more than a decade ago.
Despite their refusal to upgrade, Sony remains committed to keeping the last-gen console.
There is also overwhelming evidence that, in fact, the last-gen console has prevented games that are also on the PlayStation 5 from achieving the same level of quality. One of the most significant examples is that Battlefield 6 has among the best-looking visuals and animations, such as the brand-new destruction feature, because Electronic Arts did not have to make the game for the PlayStation 4.
For years, Developers have confirmed that making games for current-gen consoles, and now SONY is practically saying that last-gen consoles are holding them back. They strongly urge PlayStation 4 players to finally let go and move on up.
