We will likely see the State of Play event in February 2025.
Even though Sony won’t be hosting any PlayStation Showcase for 2025, as for the State of Play event, there have been no confirmations on whether we will see a State of Play event in the first quarter of 2025. However, given that we had a State of Play last February and the 2021 PlayStation Showcase was scheduled for February 2021, it is highly likely that we will see the State of Play event in February 2025.
However, given so much going on with PlayStation at this moment, we still anticipate a PlayStation event in February or March, as we need to see more gameplay of Ghost of Yōtei and get a release date for Death Stranding 2: On The Beach. Hopefully, they will also announce and unveil Marvel’s Venom game and possibly Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 and Insomniac’s New IP. They might also show what some of their other studios, such as Bend Studio and Santa Monica Studio, are working on and introduce the God of War Remastered Greek Saga Collection.
There is so much for PlayStation to display at a State of Play, so it’s only natural that we have one soon. The Venom game will most likely be shown and, hopefully, released in late 2025. I don’t think GTA 6 will impact Venom game sales because Venom is such a popular character. The game is also expected to be shorter, lasting 12 to 15 hours, and may even serve as a system seller in its own right.
This timing is ideal, as consumers are likely to buy PlayStation 5 Pro for GTA 6 if it is released in Autumn 2025. It would make sense for them to purchase the Venom game as well, as fans of the franchise would find it appealing, and it would be a new game to add to their collection alongside GTA 6.
